bass4cache
I've been tinkering in the shop with the paddletails and came across some holographic scale decal from Witchcraft Tape. The light bulb went off and here is what happended. Much easier than painting. I'm sure they make the tape in just about any color imaginable, not sure about pricing. You can also use the flat eyes instead of the 3D molded eyes. Kent

nova
Is that scale on the inside or outside. I'm working right now on making my own 3D eyes. I'll report on it later. www.novalures.com

Seriously, from the layout to the options to the color selection... Awesome! Nick
BassnRandy
I made eyes that turned out ok but have not pursued it. Tried the tape also but I had a cheap brand and it curled on me in the mold. Those look great.
braveviper
I make 3d eyes and they are ok,heres how.....I took the 3d eyes we all use and stuck them to the underside of a plastic cap about 2" diameter.I filled the cap with RTV.When set peel out the mold,it now looks like the surface of a golf ball.I fill the dimples with epoxy, when dry, they pop out and usually need a little trimming. To make the pupil, paint a small dot on the back(it will be magnified and seem bigger)Try it NOVA and let me know how it works out. Richard Prager
Does the tape stiffen the bait and impede the action?

That actually sounds really cool! Putting the pupil on the flat part of the eye would make it look nice too!
braveviper
Even better, get a 1/16 holepunch and punch out a black dot of electrical tape.
nova
Braveviper; I'm working with a piece of holographic tape I had laying around and glass paint. www.novalures.com
bass4cache
Thanks. The tape is on the inside. I put in on after the first dip. Then dipped again. Put on the eyes and the glitter then dipped again. Its is a very very thin flexible decal. It doesnt seem affect the bait at all.

nova
Braveviper. Yep at Wallyworld. Comes in a kit under $6. It says the paint will withstand 350 degrees F. www.novalures.com
braveviper
You could even use a marker to dot the back of the epoxy "eye" The hole punch works best I think.
nova
Markers are ok but they don't cover as well as you might think and they might bleed. www.novalures.com

spungee
Barlows has the tape in small sheets for under $3.00. About 6 or 7 colors to choose from.
nova
Ok guys; here's the eyes, lol. Tape is punched out with hole punch, then the glass paint is applied then the black. The colored paint is almost transparent but the black covers nicely. Then I thin 2 part epoxy with alcohol and apply it as a drop to the eye. These have a "dome" to them but not quite high enough for me so I'll play with the amount of alcohol I thin the epoxy with so it makes it a little thicker. If you try this you can only do as many eyes as it takes for the epoxy to set up. www.novalures.com
