Coosa Redeye
Ok, here is my problem. Every time that I try to dip paddletails, I cannot get the bait off of the knife without it sticking to itself. Even if i get one off, it immediately becomes a solid bait instead of a tube because the sides stick together. I have tried using mineral oil in very conservative amounts on the knife, with no luck. HELP! Also, another problem. When i am dipping the baits, I cannot get a thick enough section at he head. I am trying to make the baits in three dips, per the instructions provided by Del. Any and all help is always greatly appreciated. I am at my wit's end with this, and am considering just making the molded swimbaits like 3:16 or California Swimbabes. longhorn
Sounds like the plastic may be too soft or too hot. I had my best results dipping with regular plastic not super soft. Either of these would cause a "thin" dip. I've read where some use tube plastic. The basstrix baits I bought (one package) are made of fairly tough plastic. Dipping baits is really a pain isn't it? I've given up on the whole idea. Good luck.
Richard Prager
spray with Garlic Pam each time and gently wipe the excess.
earthworm77
I lube the sticks every two baits I make. If you do that, you should be fine. You can use any type of lube. Even a drop of canola oil will work and its cheap with no mess. I started spraying my oil based scents but there is too much wasted with a spray.
