clemmy
Have been doing balsa plugs from LHS, hand selecting weight. Can y'all reccomend good national suppliers for weight sorted balsa? I'm also hoping to explore new woods with the new saw, Where have you guys been getting your Paulownia, Jetulong, AYC, etc? Thanks Guys! out2llunge
Specialty woods usually are had at specialty suppliers. Lowes and HD aren't going to carry those types. Look online or in your phone book for lumber suppliers particularly for the cabinetry industry. They usually sell by the board foot, but it might be different with some of the species you're looking for.
benton B
good luck with your search, I've been looking for a supplier for Paulownia, Jetulaong, and White Cedar for over a year. Let me know if you find please.
out2llunge
Clemmy, this is the kind of place I'm talking about. They have Yellow Cedar (doesn't specify Alaskan) and Jetulong, But I didn't see Paulownia listed. They did have Pau if that is similar. http://www.exotic-woods.com/services.html

clemmy
Thanks Guys! I'll have to make some calls! I also found Woodfinder.com for some leads, but I'm not sure if it refers you to only paying sponsors... Anyone reccommend a good balsa source that'll select wood by weight for you? Thanks Again! bassinfool99
Don't know of a good source for balsa, as I get it locally at a hobby shop. Poplar is also easy to get. But I have bought a variety of basswood and cedar pieces from these guys. http://www.itascawoodproducts.com/index.php?cart_id=119496948125056 The cedar is much better than I could get at local lumber yards, and the cabinet shops are $$. As far the exotics? sry, can't help there. Question, has anyone tried ash or birch? Problems ?
B BUG
If you are wanting specific weight balsa the folks at Solarbo in Miami have gone out of their way to get me what I want. If you want to talk to a live body the # I have is 305-634-5373, or you can look them up on the net and see what they have their selection in thickness and width is vast.
