Ogajiga
Sometimes you can find deals on big lot closeout items on eBay but I just got scammed big time on some Gami hooks auctions. The seller was a pro, built up a 100% feedback in a coupla months selling small lots legitimately then used the pic of a box to sell undelivered case lots of 16 boxes. I and a lot of others are out some major $. Attempting to file claims with Paypal was a waste of time following dead end links and non-submitting forms. And in disputed cases eBay deletes transaction records so you gotta be quick to save any info. earthworm77
If you used paypal you might be able to get your money refunded. I know they take this type of thing very seriously. Leave this guy feedback letting everyone know he is a fraud. He'll go away.
LedHed
He got me for 5 molds/$65. Anyone know Ruppert in Page AZ? Neg feedback won't do any good - they closed his account after getting 4.
Ogajiga
Yup, thats them M. & Carol Rupert aka "mcr2006wow". Hard to track em cause their email is with an Arizona ISP but my credit card statement lists a phone # in CA. They also have another eBay ID "blacksun" with area listed as MO still auctioning the same 16,000 Gami hooks after the other account was suspended. LedHed, if you're interested, they might be in your area 402-935-7733.
LedHed
Same ad - the only thing different is the location. Wonder how many other accounts they have. Looks like they are reselling some other hook lots also. Phone # sounds like it's up north. I think these POSs are in AZ.
Palmetto Balsa
Guys, I think it is bad for you to trash a seller if you have not had prior business with them. Their feedback looks legitimate. blacksun385 looks like they have a recent connection on overstock fishing tackle. They have been a member for 4 years and very few negs. Looks like some people have problems with shipping fees but not the items. If I were the seller and saw people saying these thing about me on a board with this many members, I might think someone was trying to keep the price low so they could win them for a cheap price. I don't know what the truth is but eBay seems to be a trusted place for business and they will help members resolve issues. If you use paypal they will help with refunds too. I hope this is a good seller.
Ogajiga
"I hope this is a good seller" - Palmetto Balsa lotsa luck to you if you bid their items. Check the records of their suspended ID "mcr2006wow" if eBay hasn't deleted it yet. Although they have sold close to 20 cases of 16,000 Gami hooks in the past month you will notice no feedback for those being received. Having been personally ripped off for $1,300, lied to, then ignored by this seller your scolding critisizm when you "don't know what the truth is" adds insult to injury. Ogajiga
Sorry, I was mistaken, rechecked "mcr2006wow" feedback and found one older +feeback for a 16,000 Gami hooks auction. Couldn't verify how many of those auctions were closed because the seller's transaction records have been deleted from the eBay system. Also found out why my PayPal complaint form wouldn't submit - theres a 45 day waiting period after a transaction closes. In contrast, eBay erased all evidence even before they sent me notice of the sellers account suspension. I wonder why?
lilcraw
If your buying hooks in that large of quanity you would be wiser in going direct with gama. depending on the hook but that pricing range is about the same as I am paying direct on most jig hooks, and a whole lot safer. LedHed
The auction ended for 16K Gamakatsu 35* 5/0 hooks. How often do you see that style of hook in that quantity - especially when the same lot ran a month earlier? Hope the best for Monika7365. Final cost $45/ship + $315/16,000 hooks = $.0225 per hook. Think that one of the lots hawnjigs won was ~$.0348 a hook. That’s a real deal for Gamakatsu hooks - if you can get it….. Ebay being trusted - probably yes, but extremely non-effective. From what I understand, from previous posts on this site, even if you win a pay-pal dispute – if there is nothing in the account – you collect nothing. Hope you can get something hawnjigs. I reported mcr2006wow for not receiving my molds when they had 4 negative feedbacks and two days later they suspended the account clearing out all transactions. Don’t understand why they do that either. Have not heard from ebay yet and more than likely won’t. Ebay, like anything else, is a crap shoot…
lilcraw
CAN'T compete with that price...... above he stated he lost $1300 on 16K hooks that's what I was referring to, like the old saying says, if it appears to good to be true, then stay away if not, HANG ON. Ogajiga
First 16,000 hook auction came out to $.042 per hook then I got greedy and kept bidding for a better deal even though the 16K was a lifetime supply. Finally "won" another 16K for what LedHed mentioned, but the seller demanded extra S&H to ship to HI so the total was almost $1,300 for 32,000. But sh** happens so I can only "HANG ON" and learn some lessons.
BigTimeBuzzer
Well somebody, somewhere, got some of them. They are all over ebay broken down into groups of 25 hooks per auction. And I am almost 100% positive that they came from the same place because I threw my hat in the ring on a few of them but he threw his hat a little higher than mine. Ogajiga
Remember the suspected scammer "mcr2006wow" phone # I posted for LedHed 402-935-7733 ? Well I Googled it and got many references including this one: "08/21/2006 # DEBIT PURCHASE -171.89 PAYPAL *WOWMINEC 402-935-7733" which was a report of fraudulent use of a debit card on Paypal. So, again I caution that the suspended seller has another active eBay account "blacksun385" selling the same Gami hooks.
fish devil
last resort try this, I know people that had their problems resolved after filing with IC3. It may take a while though. http://www.ic3.gov/
Ogajiga
Thanks "fish devil". I think I should wait for my VISA dispute to be resolved before dealing with the Feds? Because Paypal wording is vague, I thought there was a 45 day wait period to file a complaint when their online form didn't submit, but in review found a complaint must be filed WITHIN 45 days. Filled out online complaint form again and it failed to submit. I think that eBay erases suspected fraud records and Paypal dead ends the complaint process to avoid issues that could cost them. So far I am totally disappointed with their failure to help resolve my fraud loss.

Ogajiga
OK, guys, last word. I have been busy on this and although I was advised not to disclose details I would strongly recommend NOT getting involved in "blacksun385" auctions. Thanks for all the member support.
Ogajiga
Sorry, guys, thought I was done, but I received this message from "blacksun385" through eBay: hello i have no idea who you are but another member has recently contacted me and informed me of a message board that you have posted some negative things about my ebay name and another name (m and carol ruppert). Now, the man was polite so I will honor his request and say that based on the wording and picture of "blacksun385" Gami hook auctions being identical to (terminated eBay account) "mcr2006wow" auctions that defrauded me I made the possibly incorrect assumption that the two eBay sellers were the same person. So I apologise for my inappropriate advice for other members to avoid "blacksun385" auctions based on observation rather than known fact. However, if any member of this forum provided information to "blacksun385" to trace me through eBay that was done without my permission. Done is done, but please PM me before you further meddle in my affairs.
Ogajiga
Update: a representative of Gary Yamamoto Custom Baits with whom I have been cooperating notified me that Mike & Carol Rupert have been fired and arrested. Not only were they scamming money for undelivered auctions, but the items were stolen from GY. Anyone who was following "blacksun385" auctions will notice that they have disappeared prior to completion, and be advised if you took delivery of items they are stolen property. Wow, I hope "the other member" who tipped-off this criminal about your post here sees this latest development. Bad juju indeed. Have you notified the police in AZ (or wherever Mr Rupert was apprehended) about the fraud you experienced? With any luck you may be able to have your money returned to you as restitution. LedHed
I got a similar email last night: “Just to let you know, everything they were (mcr2006wow) and have been (blacksun385) selling is stolen merchandise from Gary Yamamoto Custom Baits. This morning they were fired from GYCB and will be arrested and prosecuted to fullest extent of the law. Thank you for your cooperation! You can send the pictures to rcolby@baits.com” First of all – the person who felt that they had to notify the Ruperts – thnx for a big nothing, you all most jeopardized the investigation through yourself righteousness. Second point – and this is to PB - you took a warning that could have potentially saved other TU members the same grief and dismissed it and alluded that a member was trying to drive prices down on ebay bids. “Guys, I think it is bad for you to trash a seller if you have not had prior business with them.” Nobody was trashing anyone – the attempt was to warn people. “Their feedback looks legitimate.” – Yeah 4 negatives. “blacksun385 looks like they have a recent connection on overstock fishing tackle.” – You were right (although not convicted) they were stealing – from their employer. “If I were the seller and saw people saying these thing about me on a board with this many members, I might think someone was trying to keep the price low so they could win them for a cheap price.” See second point…… I don't know what the truth is but eBay seems to be a trusted place for business and they will help members resolve issues. Yes and in this matter – have received absolutely zero help from ebay – they aren’t even responding now. Now ebay is flooded with allot of stolen property and I’m sure I will probably have to return the first set of molds – stolen property. Ogajiga
Restitution from siezed if any Rupert assets not likely because the main victim and complainant is GY, although I did file a local police report and an ic3.gov complaint. Past the 45 day deadline for filing a Paypal claim and no reply from them for 3 weeks of requests for assistance in filing bogus non submitting online forms. Apparently, GY needed evidence from online victims like "ledhed" and I to initiate law enforcement action in their and the Ruperts' location of Page AZ and it was important not to disclose details on the forum to avoid allerting the crooks to the investigation and bust. Those Page cops move pretty fast !
sagacious
Restitution from siezed if any Rupert assets not likely because the main victim and complainant is GY... That's great you're assisting GY in his case, and I hope these folks get what's coming to them. It's too bad you didn't get any help from Ebay or Paypal... File separate criminal charges of fraud against 'em, and if convicted, you'll see that restitution. Assests seized in GY's case aren't necessarily relevant to remuneration in your fraud case. If needed, ask that the Rupert's have their paychecks garnished, and you'll see your money eventually. Best of luck!
dampeoples
What a pisser some ##### from here with nothing to do would 'help' the thief sell more hooks. Glad you got it resolved.
