Coosa Redeye
I was on the Web yesterday and saw a forum talking about making molds for lead out of Durham's Water Putty. This stuff is so much cheaper than RTV. I am thinking of trying it for soft plastic molds. Has anyone else done this? If so, did it work? GB GONE
Many do use it Coosa. It makes a nice hard mold. Plaster of paris is just cheaper to me though and the results are not that different. Jim
Coosa Redeye
Thank you for the reply, Jim. I have already made some plaster molds, just not real happy with them. Do you have a recommendation for making masters? I have been using Sculpey so far, am just looking to try something else. By the way, my tournament partner just bought some of your new model swimbaits from your e-bay site. He says that he cannot wait to get them in, and loves the detail that yours have (without paint!) They look doggone nice! Coosa
GB GONE
I have used sculpey, wood, other baits in pieces, clay, etc. Most things will work if you seal them well prior to molding... Who is it? I can be sure to add a little something "special" in the box! The lack of paint helps the bait stay translucent like many baitfish are!! Coosa Redeye
His name is R. Farrar. You have probably shipped the baits to him already. He is here in Alabama, so the baits should not take too long to get to him. Coosa
longhorn
I have made some masters from carved wax....then put them in the wet POP from the top. When you put the mold in the oven the wax will melt so you can pour it out. It may take 2 or 3 pours because all the wax may not melt at once. When the mold is cured the wax leaves no residue and can be coated with Elmer's with no problem.
