desertrat
Hi all great site tons of info., I'm looking to build some new rods this winter and I'm looking to get some different hook keepers. I would like to see if anyone knows where St. Croix and Kistler gets theirs. I have checked with Jann's and Fishsticks4U etc. Any Ideas would be appreciated. Or if you have any better ideas I would love to hear them. Thanks
Mattman
St. Croix and Kistler are big enough that they can get proprietary "custom" ones made up for them. St. Croix has Gudebrod custom dye thread for them. It would be no different for hook keepers and winding checks. I haven't looked at a factory St. Croix so I don't know what they put on their rods. The Kistler one isn't available anywhere, at least that I've been able to find. PacBay has a similar style... http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t288/Otterods/Reference/HL-Keepers-Latches.jpg This has been a popular alternative for me... http://www.reeltimedesigns.com/Drop-ShotWeightKeeperSystem.html
Elken
Here's another hook keeper similar to the Kistler: http://www.georgescustomrods.com/Hook_Keeper_Selection.htm
