Mercury
Got a question. Afer seeing some of your work I thought I might try and make a few spinners from the molds and stuff I have. Q1, Powdercoating? is it possible? Or do you use a air brush for liquid based paints? Give me a few days Im sure I will have more.
Celticav
Wow, I must make this look too easy! Glad you have decided to mold you a few and I know you will find it a rewarding experience as well as a lot of fun. Powder paint works fine and produces a very durable finish. If you have messed with it before; you shouldn't have any problems, white is what I use the most in powder and it is the hardest color to use (for me at least). I use a heat gun from ACE hardware to prep the head and later to smooth the paint out with. I usually use acrylic or enamel to add the color over the top if it is a two color head. This isn't very cost effective and IS very time consuming, but worth it if you are just making personal baits. For larger production, unless you have the set up for powder coating large numbers of heads, I would recommend something you can spray: be it acrylic, laquer, enamel, whatever you like. Ok, ready for Q2...
Mercury
I was thinking if i dip it, the hook will be covered too. (dont want that) Soo does he powder coat it? Hmm, how does he keep the hook clean and the wire form clean too? I dont have my airbrush anymore, sooo thats out of the question, Oh I have what I thought was white powder coating ended up being a clear glow coat. Im thinking of doing inline spinners, I have good luck on thoes.
Celticav
With the heat gun and being careful you shouldn't have that much on the hook itself, just the shank. And it can be "snapped" right off with a pair of needlenose or a utility knife.

BuggermanBob
Hi. Excuse the 'but-in' but could you cover the hook with petrol. jelly or silicone spray to keep the paint from sticking to the hooks? It would be a shame to not use what you want to make your lures with! good luck, bob
