kbkindle
kb here talking about the baits ,belly not mine i made this bait last year and it done real well for me but not in this color the weight is correct, the bill is correct it has a tight wiggle just what i wanted the problem it is to large for the smallmout bass in my lake so i have made a couple more patterns smaller in size is there any way of knowing the correct weight or do i go with the trial and error. way here is the bait cut in half wanted to see what it looked like kb
mark poulson
KB, If it works well now, don't fool with it. I've had 2lb smallies hit a BBZ1 floater, which is about 10" long. P.S. Send me those dang "oversized" baits if you don't want them. )
BobP
KB, the closest I can get is by float testing the new design and adjusting it's ballast so that it sits in the water to the same relative depth as the original. I finish one bait complete except for the ballast, hang hooks on it, then hang solder or lead wire on the belly treble until I get what I want. Weigh it on a digital scale. That makes it repeatable. Interesting design!
JBlaze
Thanks Bob that is a very good tip, trial and error has wasted more than a few baits for me.

benton B
Kb, I would cut the original weight by 1/3 and make a trial bait with that.
