bhorlings
Is anyone putting salt in their finesse worms or chunks? I understand why you want it in a stick bait but not sure if anyone was using it in other applications.
BBC
I don't add salt to the baits that I use but I have some customers that always request salt. I think it makes the plastic harder to pour with finesse worms. Also, it makes the plastic a little stiffer which usually hurts the action. Just my 2 cents. Senkosam
Have to agree. Why Zoom puts so much salt into their Horny Frog is beyond me. It's supposed to be a topwater bait and salt hurts the action as well a weighing the bait down. If I were to use a finesse worm as a drop shot bait, I'd want it to float perpendicular to the line and not drop down like a Senko. I'm not a believer that fish hold on longer because of salt. Mac10
I've had great success over the years fisning a senko type stick without any internal salt......falling much slower than internally salted baits. I don't know if the external salt does much in the long run, but without the internal weight, it works very well.
longhorn
I add salt powder (made in a blender) to the plastic for the sole reason of making certain colors. Some of the best colors have no dye at all...just glitter. For example the good old salt and pepper color is just salted plastic and black flake....most bluegill is just salted plastic and flake. It makes the bait retain light and reflects the color of the flake better than plain clear plastic. I don't know how many batches I tried of both before a friend in the tackle business told me salt and pepper had no dye...I was then able to make salt and pepper and bluegill that looked like storebought or at least I think so
earthworm77
I prefer to use some salt in any bait that isn't a topwater bait. Finesse worm...heck yes, but only if I'm pouring them in a regular color where the salt will not bleach the true color out. If I was pouring something wacky like a morning dawn, then no salt. I want those colors to be vivid.
bhorlings
Thanks for the input! It is definitely going to help me out.
nova
You can put salt in any bait even one piece molds. If you want to try a good "non-color" for a stick just use your normal salt(floured) in clear plastic and add holi flakes. www.novalures.com
saint308
I pour my trick worms with and with out salt. I like salt in the worms I will fish wacky stye. The added weight eliminates me having to insert a nail. The worms I fish floating or c-rigged do not have salt. Saint.

saint308
They can sue me. All they will get is a roll of quarters and my wife. I will give them two weeks and they will offer me two rolls of quarters to take her back. Just kidding, I love my wife. Saint.
