JDBaits
I have been looking for a pair of gloves to pour plastics with, what kind would you guys recommend?
earthworm77
I wouldn't recommend using gloves. Anything that would protect your hands from any burn will certainly be too thick and clumsy to manage. Anything that doesn't protect from burns may do more harm than good if you have an accident. clamboni
Don't pour myself, but I'd think a mechanic's glove would work well and you wouldn't lose much dexterity. Or a thin neoprene glove with just the fingertips cut off. Yeah, it would expose the fingertips, but would cover more than nothing would. Mattlures
ove glove Its as if it were made for pouring plastics.
Tubeman
Any leather glove will provide burn protection, you will feel the heat of the plastic...but it won't burn you....unless you get a pile of it on your hand. Insulated gloves are better provided you still have some dexterity. I have a few diff one for diff jobs.
JDBaits
Thanks guys, ive been using a pot holder since ive started pouring but i was hopeing that there was a better option out there, I think ill give the ove glove a try
dsmblack
I have used the ove glove and I think it is a little too thick. Personally I use a pot holder. Look for one that is fairly thin and it works great.
Spike-A-Pike
Clamboni got me thinking, check military surplus shops or the inter-web for pilot's nomax gloves http://www.uswings.com/gloves.asp Bruce
njrfishing
I use Hyflex foam gloves they fit snug and have the finger tips and pawm of the glove are dipped in a rubber type product. They have saved my hands from burns all I do is wipe off any plastic with a cloth or rag. I hope the picture comes out ok.
pastorshane
I use hyflex gloves as well and they work great.
Tubeman
Hey, we sell a version of the Hyflex at the retailer where I work. It comes in both Insulated and Non Insulated versions. For you Canucks, Mark's Work Wearhouse sells them.
Spike-A-Pike
NRJFishing and Tubeman, I went to the HyFlex web site and agree they make a glove for just about any hazard. I wasn't able to determine if they offered the heat/flame protection that nomax has? Can either of you tell me? Bruce
clamboni
You don't need nomex. It's more for protection from open flame. When it heats up, the fibers swell to make somewhat of a seal to insulate from the heat. Hot plastic dripping on it might get into the fabric and not allow it to workt he way it's designed if it gets into the fabric.
pastorshane
Mine aren't insulated, I just use mine to pour if the cup is too hot to hold, or to open two piece molds if they are hot from several pours. I got mine at wal-mart for like $5.00 in the fishing supplies. They sell them as fish cleaning gloves.
pastorshane
I checked yesterday at wal-mart yesterday, in the fishing section they sell the gloves I use they are made by "LAKERS" and they are under $2.00.
