basskat
That's pretty awesome. Where'd you come up with the red wire?
Coley
Looks good Nathan. Did you dye the wire?? Coley
Wire bender
Very interesting and I'm also very interested in how you did it. I was planning on doing something different with a lure for next year and if this is an easy process you may have solved a problem I was expecting before it happened. Nathan
Buy your self some red blade dye,you can dip it or brush it on.I'm anxious to see how well it holds up..Nathan
basskat
Did you dye the hook as well? If you did, that would be much cheaper than buying red hooks. Wonder if that would work on treble hooks for crankbaits? You got me to thinking here Nathan!
Nathan
Yep,Just dyed them too!! Just make sure your hooks are stainless,or premasteel and they will work fine. This dye sets up in a few seconds..Nathan
Lure--Prof
Looks good! Wear one out and let us know how it holds up! Who's your blade dye source : Dean
Littlebear
Nathan, When I seen this header for the post my first thought was this was silly but after looking at it I have change my mind.. I think you may be on to something.. the test will be if the wire blades remove the dye quickly.. but even if it does.. the red hook may hold up.. good thinking Littlebear
kellure
I like the red wire look, plus there seems to be a movement towards red hook popularity lately. I think youre on to something in other words ...can you point me in a good direction for the dye you used and maybe any updates on its durability. Thanks, Kellure
Bass Tracker
Is this idea based on that red is the first color in the light spectrum that dissapears underwater? Great Idea!
kellure
Any word on how the wire dye is holding up under use? Kellure
deadlystreamer
Hey Nathan! Looking good. Like that red wire and the hook. It'll be interesting to see how will it keeps the color. Like the other guys asked. What's the secret source of the dye? Buy your self some red blade dye I don't remember seeing it anywhere. Have I just overlooked it? Nice work Nathan. Cobra0718
Here is a link... I"m not sure if this is what Nathan is using. I have a friend that has done this for awhile now and he said it holds up better than the red hooks. http://www.ispikeit.com/shop/dyes.asp
Nathan
Sorry guys...I didn't mean to ignore your questions....I'm generally up in the hardbait forum....The dye I used is Made by spike it...You can get it through Stamina...it's on one of the pages near the blades. As for how well it holds up.....The baits I've used so far are big single bladed willow leaf jobs...It seems to work well...However the real test will be how well it does with two blades, and a clevis, and beads sliding on it..Nathan
Cobra0718
Hey Nathan is that head design one that you created or is one of the Pre-Done molds? I really like the head, I'm partial to the Picasso spinnerbaits and looking for something similar to theirs. Thanks, Charlie
Nathan
Cobra....Thats a Do-It mold (I think)...You can get it through Jann's or Stamina....Thats a 1oz. head shown, but they make molds down to 1/4oz in this style..Nathan
