Jake373
Hi, are all of their molds 1 piece molds and do the lures have flat sides to them?
earthworm77
pretty much yes, but there is nothing wrong with that unless you are trying to make a totally round worm or brush hog.
Senkosam
They came out with a full round senko and slim senko mold that produces excellent baits. The only problem is that they are one-cavity silicone molds. Their swimbait molds and other designs are supposed to have a flat side, with the tail action being crucial. Like EW says, flat top sticks and most other designs work very well with a flat surface; the action depends a lot on the softness of the baits and how thin certain parts are poured. The flat matte surface is the only drawback using silicone unless you coat the cavity with vegetable oil or other angler oil. I prefer glossy baits myself because they are pretty. ha ha
rxfish
I have over 100 molds from Lurecraft and all have a flat side, but with a little practice you can mound a little plastic on the last pass to lessen the flatness. Also have 2 sizes of the swimbaits and the top side becomes the flat side as opposed to the bottom being the flat side in other molds. The tail action in these swimbaits seems on par with the Basstrix baits but they don't look at all alike.
dsmblack
could you post a pic of the swimbait mold you are referring to. I would like to buy one. Or a number.
Smallie
Which Lurecraft swimbait mold has the best swimming action?
rxfish
I'll get the exact number for you later today and maybe a picture. I'm at work now and don't have any of the info. The 6" baits seemed to work the best but we haven't been able to fish them much for lack of time and now, lack of water.
Jake373
Thanks for the response! I just wanted to find out about the molds before ordering...

rxfish
Here are 2 Lurecraft swimbaits, 719 is 5 and a half inches and 783 is 4 and a half. These were poured using a Lee pot but could be done just as easy using pyrex or what have you.
Senkosam
Nice trout color! The middle bait will catch fish, but soft plastic is needed IMO to get any action. I was a little disappointed in the design so I modified the tail connection by cutting the mold with a scalpel, making it deeper.
rxfish
I actually used MF super soft to make these and thought the regular MF would work better especially in the bigger bait as the tail is longer and a bit to much movement side to side. I haven't had any time to make any decent colors and was more interested in how more than one color would work in the mold. Some of the guys that got the smaller ones from the initial batch are cutting the heads off on a slight angle and adding a hook weight combo like you find on the Mission Fish.
