Ogajiga
Does anyone else think we could all benefit from having a section on the website where MEMBERS could post what they have to offer? Out of the thousands of members only a few dozen maybe are actively posting so the talents of the vast majority remain unknown. Maybe listings could be brief with just a name and contact info + a one line description of specialties catergorized under "soft plastics", "jig heads", "custom mold making", "wooden plugs", "flies", etc.? Not meant to be free classified ads, just standing information what a person has to offer. This would be expecially helpful to guys that come to TU to shop for product outside of the mainstream who would otherwise just get a few answers to their question posts. dampeoples
I really think the idea at it's core is a good one, but this is a train wreck waiting to happen.
Spike-A-Pike
I think it's a slippery slope... Let's just leave that to the folks at eBay.
Vodkaman
But what EVERYONE should do, is take the time to fill in the user profile. This gives others responding to your posts an idea of who they are talking to. I always check the profile of the person that I am replying to. But more often than not I am talking to an empty page. Don't just be an empty page, be someone!
Spike-A-Pike
Vodkaman, great idea. I had to take a look at my profile and didn't get much of an impression from it. A few edits and lets just say, "I am an empty page no more." Question of the Day - Is there a simple way to turn an insulin pump into a beer injection system? Never mind... LaPala
Just MHO, if you have something to offer, you are making $$ so it's just fair to help support TU by advertising in the Classified Ads or be a sponsor. Hosting, maintaining the site and some programming updates etc doesn't come free and that comes out from personal time too. The software vBulletin this site is running one cost 160 to purchase and 30 every year for updates. Plus you are allowed a link in your profile too which is very generous on behalf of the site admin. Why ask for more free ride? Don't forget, if you are good and a contributor to the forum you get noticed, that's already free advertising
clemmy
Bruce, i'm not sure about an insulin pump, but I have heard that kids today are using nebulizers to inhale vodka....Perhaps a good christmas gift for Dave..lol Clemmy
Spike-A-Pike
Does Dave drink vodka??? Who'd have thunk it?? In the words of Alice Cooper, "sleeping don't come very easy is a straight white vest..."
hazmail
I'm with Dave,Spike and LaPala on this. Like LaPala says there is a lot of guys getting a free ride already, more than they would want us to know. Fair enough if they want to sell their wares, and there is some excellent stuff here, but who pays? 5690 other users. pete
