kenshomi
http://yamamoto.baits.com/cgi-bin/order/92F-10 I would like it in the 4inch and skinny
robbor
I recall looking at those before and other possible talking about them. Looks like to make them as pictured would probably require a 3 piece alum mold. You could try making grub/tube combo and then cutting like they do the tubes also. Smallie
If it is skinny, it is not an Ika. Sounds like you want a 4 inch Senko with a skirt. I think Happy Time Hand Pours on this site makes a bait like that.

Looks like to make them as pictured would probably require a 3 piece alum mold. You could try making grub/tube combo and then cutting like they do the tubes also. We make the molds for them, its a 2 piece mold. the skirt is attached via melting the skirt to the bait.( thats how yamamoto does it.) theres a few different ways of doing it: first you need to buy the skirts from yamamoto, they are double skirts take a razor blade and cut them in half. ( then you get 2 for one) Get a hot knife and hold it between the skirt and the bait, slide the knife out and press the 2 pieces together. you can do the same with a soldering iron and the knife blade attachment. the best way at least to me and the easiest. is to dip the skirts in hot plastic that your pouring your ikas with then press it against the bait. But as of yet I don't pour plastics. But I have found awesome ones made by folks on this forum. HappyTimehandpours and others. His are a bit skinny and too long. Vodkaman
I think I could pour one of those in a two piece.
Delw
you can make a mold of one in a 2 piece mold that you can cut the skirt afterwords. the only problem is you have to cut the skirt and most people can't cut skirts right due to the tooling thats avail. Yamamoto glues the skirts on in the factory. they used to do all the skirts here in phoenix on the hula grubs and ikas. Ken that Image is a fat ika, we sell them there called Fatties. the black one is an org. fat ika and the bottom one is one that I made in the mold and glued the skirt one. you can see the org fat Ika( black one) has a double skirt cut in half then glued onto the bait. millsryno
I just got a shipment in from Jeff at Bass Boys. He has worked for several months to get these real close to the Yamamotos. If I put them in a Yamamoto bag, you wouldn't know you were fishing a knockoff. The best part of all....no more $7-$8 per bag! These will be $4.99 per 8 pack. I have to send these in for photography so it will be a couple weeks before they are up on the site. If you really want some, though, I can put them up on the site with no pics. Colors: Rootbeer Pepper, Lemon-Lime Pepper, Strawberry Pepper, Plum Crazy, June Bug, Watermellon w/ black flake, Black w/ blue flake, Salt and Pepper Pearl, Watermelon w/ black and gold flake. www.handpouredworms.com <----all products from TU members! jmik26
Yes, it seems that we have got copying successful commercial baits down to a TEE! Only comparison that are bait has with the original is they are plastic. Our body is shaped different and our skirts are far from the orignal. Seeing them in hand or in the water is everything. But their is little left to interpretation when you read such a damning paragraph. You are all very gifted lure makers. I just wish you could apply yourselves more to design. I do understand the problems. Your business is customer driven. As such, they want proven lures and are reluctant to try anything that is not. I get enough of that just on this site, when members of a progressive site like TU are reluctant to even try new ideas. If you are going to copy lures then go for it, just don't brag or advertise the fact here. This site is about helping and innovation, to produce a better, original lure. No malice from me, just respect for your skills.

How is that a better deal? Dave
IGETBIT2
I believe they are refering to the whole ika bait just not the skirt.

millsryno
Smallie - yeah I'm refering to the whole bait, not the skirts. Vodkaman - he asked for IKA like pours. I am telling him what I have. I don't have a picture up of them, so described them the best I could. I don't make them. Do we really have to go here on this thread? You had nothing positive to add to the post other than you could make those with a 2 piece mold. If you were to make them in a 2 piece mold, wouldn't you be in the same boat as to what you are accusing me of? Why go there? As to the reason I described as I did: it was the best description I could give. Had they been harder than a Yamamoto Ika, I would have compared them that way. Had they been softer than one, I'd have described them that way. I have no other reference to judge them against as I know of no other Ika pours other than the Kinami which is the same exact thing. In no way was I referencing that I would put them in a Yamamoto bag and sell them that way. I don't agree with that and was just making a point.
