Mags
I bought a few packs of the Lucky Strike Bass Magic swimbaits to compare to the other swimbaits I have been trying. They sure look good, but there is one big problem. There isn't enough plastic in the head to hold a screwlock or for that matter any hook. When you screw in the screwlock it is quickly into the void of the tube and will tear out rather easily. It is a like a very thin tube. The other tube swimbaits I have worked with (ie. Ghost bait phantom shad, Kamakazee Treat, basstrix) all have enough meat in the head that you can pull hard on the screwlock and it will tear the plastic before coming out. With this bait I believe it is one and you're done, if even that. It may not stay on your hook very long just casting. The Chinese manufacturers sure come out with some nice stuff, but it always seems to fall a little short when it comes to details. Another dip or two on the head is what they need. earthworm77
Mag's, you would think anyone who makes a bait similar to something that is hot would do their homework and make it better. You might solve this problem but using glue on the cork screw.
Vodkaman
How long is the corkscrew, are they a standard length?
Jonah
Mags- Don't be so quick to jump on the manufacturer. When a product is outsourced, it is built to the buyer's specs. Bass Magic should have noticed this if it wasn't what they ordered or wanted. Maybe they should have done a more thorough job of R&D before the bait was released. Maybe this is exactly what they wanted.
Mags
Yes, my screwlocks are standard length. I compared them to some production made ones. I am thinking that a toothpick through the sides of the bait and through the scewlock may be an answer. But geez these baits are still over a dollar a piece even at the bargain basement price of $6.99 to $7.99 a pack. Who wants to jack with that. I think this bait will require a different plastic hold design altogether as currently made, even though they use an illustration of the screwlock as a preferred hooking method on the back of the package. Jonah, you are correct. Perhaps that is what was speced out and they just made them that way. It is hard to believe though that this is what someone would have ordered if they had tried the bait first.
dsmblack
could you dip the head in some plastic with hardener in it to make it hold better.
GB GONE
Just what we need, another inferior Chinese product to ruin the decent products out there. I have already had an email asking if my baits were similar to those baits.... Only in 1 way, they are both plastic and that is where that ends!!! I know some manufacturers make their baits for planned obsolescence but one cast is ridiculous!!!! Jim

eugene
Mag's, If you need a fix for that swimbait,Try this. Take a 1/2" piece of old plastic worm and push it in the tube to the head of the swim bait and run a hot needle into it and it should hold so you can put in your screwlock eugene
iceman35
thanks for the tips! I'm off to a bass pro and was gonna check these out... I like the piece of plastic worm idea... doesnt lunker lure make a little wire deal to hold a tube on better? Also might want to look at a eagle claw HP hook with the little clip... while on the subject of swimbaits... I've bought and then resold many and still haven't found the right one... action color etc, have never stood out... I've tried 3:16 lures bait,( best so far), and alot of jighead, paddle tail combos... I think the whole "basstrix' deal comes down to this: it is a bait and a hook... something that all bass guys can relate to... no wooden plugs, no $50.00 hunks of plastic... ifishutah
The old LA Sliders have great action and catch fish, i believe that they are now being made by Anthony's.
