hazmail
Looks like a looming disaster here - 7 trucks abandoned on the highway, so far 3 bodies found. How terrible is this at Christmas.pete http://au.news.yahoo.com/071123/2/151y5.html

Spike-A-Pike
That is very sad Pete, I'll put them in my prayers. Hard to believe the number of brush fires accross the wolrd the past few years and it's not just any one place. I hope they figure out the identities so the families can be given a proper notification.
hazmail
I have had a few requests to post any more info on this. This fire is in the main (only) East/ West highway (Sydney Perth), similar to your "I-40". The fire near Southern Cross (population about 100 I think), is in the middle of no where. A truck driver said on the news last night , he saved himself by pouring a big bottle of "coke" over his head - not much water around there. I'm just hoping the drivers of the other abandoned trucks got a lift with someone- very tragic stuff for all those families waiting. pete http://www.thewest.com.au/default.aspx?MenuID=146&ContentID=52739
