longhorn
Is MF regular plastic similar to LC 502 in consistency when poured? Does anyone have a clue what type of plastic California Swimbabes are made of? They seem really tough but flexible and don't smell like MF, LC or Calhoun's... Thanks for the input and Happy New Year...I'm going fishing tomorrow for the first time in '08...been kinda windy around here.

Thanks for the input and Happy New Year...I'm going fishing tomorrow for the first time in '08...been kinda windy around here. I really can't tell by the feel nor smell even the texture. I am guessing it is the cheapest plastic money can buy, reason being they are pouring the baits in mexico and shipping the supplies to mexico is a pain in the butt and costly. some people even fill up 5 gal gas cans with plastic and take it across the boarder. alsworms
Del is right on the money. I have been told that the plastic being used is 3-G. I'm pretty sure Zoom and Berkley use them too. As for the texture, when I tried them, they only had 2 types: regular and hand-pour. I'm betting it's the regular version.
TTDuckman
I have been on here for a while, but still don't know what 3-G is or where to find it. Sorry to ask another question on your thread, but does anyone know where to get it? Thank you, Tim
alsworms
It's been so long since I've used them.........don't know if I even have their contact info. anymore. All I remember is they're based in Tennessee. I gotta tell you though Tim......... Unless they've completely changed their formulation, it's not worth it. I think there's still a couple members on here who use it, and hats off to those guys for making it work because it was by far the cheapest stuff on the market. But (as with anything else) you pay for what you get. Bubbles, horrible smell, inconsistent texture, easily burned, turns a mucky yellow, doesn't handle color well..........I could go on and on...... Strange, but I'd have to completely disagree! My only problem is that Robert put too much heat stabilizer in the plastic and it smelled. Was very hard to burn or discolor, compared to LC plastics, and the consistency of the cured product was 100% perfect every time, and it doesn't separate like the LC does. But maybe I've gotten it more recently than you? This is just a comparison to LC, because it's the only other plastic I've used, but I really like LC as a company, and their product smells MUCH better! Still, if you have any contact info for 3-G, I'd greatly appreciate it! My numbers don't seem to work anymore... -TH
longhorn
I was just curious. Didn't mean to upset anyone. I assume now that plastic comparison questions are not a good idea. Thanks anyway.

Richard Prager
I don't see any problem with sharing your experiences or comparing any of the products we use. Some companies are more consistent from batch to batch with plastisol as well as coloring. I figure if I've been pouring again now for about 2 years, I've probably saved about double that time in trial and error, as well as who knows how much money for supplies that didn't work out for me for whatever reason that may be. I think it just comes down to your motives for suggesting one product over another. If I find that one product works well for me over another, I will talk THAT product UP instead of talking another down. I welcome everybody's experience with the products they use as that info in invaluable. Bashing is another story.
alsworms
I sure didn't take offense to thrill's post at all. As I said, some guys make 3-G work for them.......and that's great! I just wish I was one of the fortunate ones because we're talking half the price of any other plastisols. That's assuming, of course, they haven't changed that much. I do remember they were great guys and very willing to work with you. Perhaps I was a little too harsh? If so, I apologize for that.
Richard Prager
I hope nobody thought my comments were directed towards any individual. I was just voice my thoughts. If someone has a good experience with a product, I want to know about it. If somebody has a bad experience with a product or service, I definitely want to know about that. I have a box of various supplies that turned out to be useless. I call it my "Move On" box. I heave it accross the room in the vicinity (I've yet to toss one in) of the box and move on! Smallie
I don't think it is bad to present problems you had with a product. It opens the door to others saying "yea, it happened to me too" or "I had that problem and I fixed it by......". I wouldn't consider anything in this thread bashing. It was presented in good taste. thill
I certainly hope I didn't offend anyone! I was just posting my experience with 3-G since it seems that most people didn't know much about them. When I ordered mine, they sold "hand pour" in three textures, Hard, Medium and Soft. They were all virtually the exact hardness as Lurecraft plastic. I really, really really loved their Soft, as it was as soft as the Lurecraft, but stretchier and tougher. I also really loved the fact that stabilizer was already in there, and the stuff simply did not discolor. But man did it smell like stabilizer! I added LC apple scent to my lures, and that covered it VERY well, and the fish loved the lures. Again, this is NOT intended to put down any other maker or anyone who uses product. Just passing on my personal experience hopefully to help others. -TH
Poor Boy's Woman
I actually like you guys talking about the plastic and other components because then we know what we need to concentrate on. If people don't voice what they like and dislike we can't address the issues. Everyone who has dealt with us since we purchased LureCraft over 3 years ago hopefully knows customer service and good products is what we are all about. We can't correct everything will do our best. If anyone has questions, suggestions or issues and don't want to put them on here, feel free to PM me and I'll see what we and do to get you an answer. All you guys are GREAT!!! jmik26
I had that problem and I fixed it by....... For the LC seperating problem; I kind of like it for two reasons. 1. It forces me to mix the plastic well, were I might not with another brand. 2. Its like a built in indicator, once the hardner is off the bottom its ready. I guess some see it as being a negative but I turned it into a positive. Besides service being top notch, we are on 30 gallons of plastic so far with NO problems. Thats what matters the most to us. Keep up the good work LC...
