mdfetz
Hi my name is Mike Fetzer, Im from East TN and found this site and think it's AWESOME. I'm an avid Basser and love to catch smallmouth. I've made jigs and spinnerbaits for some years now. I like to tinker with baits and would like to try some custom paint on cranks. I don't know a lot about computer's but I'll do my best. I'm 40ish and like everyone else I don't get to fish as much as I would like. I'm not sure I can contribute any yet but I'll do what I can as I mature. I'm glad there is a place like this to look at, and you guy's all deserved to be thanked for making such a wealth of info avalible. Good Work. Thanks, Mike
JBlaze
Welcome aboard Mike, My name is John Blazier. I have been a member for about a year now and I still think this is an awesome site. I like you have made wire baits and jigs for a long time. I started trying to make my first crank baits a few months before I found this site. They didn't turn out to well and I almost gave up on the idea of making my own cranks. In Januarary of 2007, I found this site and it wasn't long befere I had a crank bait that did what it was supposed to. (Catch Bass). You can find out anything you want to know here about all phases of bait building. There is a great bunch of people and in my opinion many experts here that are very encouraging and more than willing to share their wealth of knowledge with us beginners Young and Old. I am from East Tn also. Rockford to be exact and in my mid 50's. This is the greatest hobby I've ever had. I think I have become a "Crankoholic" its all I think about. Just wish I had more time to devote to it. Again, Welcome John

Spike-A-Pike
Thanks for the welcome guy's. I got an aztec airbrush, comp., and some paint from one of my friends. One day soon Im going to start trying some custom paint jobs on cranks. Wish me luck! Mike That's how it always seems to start Mike, a friend. First thing you know you just pick up a piece of wood and it somehow gets a fish-like shape to it. You show your wife and get the traditional, "That's nice dear." Not satisfied, you get the niebor kid to take a few pictures of your carving and you post it on TU and several of the members give you a thumbs up. Soon your carving anything with woodgrain, spending more and more time carving. Then, you find out your wife is going to visit her sister for the weekend and you get out your air brush rig. You go over the thousands of paint threads, you prep your first bait with Krylon Fusion white. Everything seems to be going well when you realize you need a drying wheel. You remember a TU member built one from a grill spit and motor, and grab your BarBQue basket and rotisary, and get it turning on the grill. To save a lttle time, you fire up the grill to "heat flash" your paint like another TU member suggested. You can see this isn't going to end well... Two and a half days later, as you hear the car in the driveway you realize what we tried to warn you about... This can get pretty addictive. Enjoy and again, Welcome to the fray

mdfetz
Thank's all, Blaze I mostly fish Watts Bar, Tellico, & Chicamauga. Caught 2 nice Smallies 5-6 weeks ago when It was warm. Been gathering suff to get started on my paint journey. Made a paint shaker out of an old sawzall and got a rotesorie today for a drying wheel if I get there. I'm gonna use the hemo-magnet idea I saw on here.Ben spraying water thu Aztek a couple of times to get a feel, because I know zero. Gonna try to learn more about types of paint, air pressure and stuff like that. Thankful for a site like this to look at.
