A Big Esox Hello from Canada

Recommended Posts

Hello from The Muskyman up here in Musky paradise,Ontario, Canada.

Nice to finally met up in a forum such as this, with my American Musky cousins to the South...lol I'm amazed at all the awesome artists here on U.T.

I have already in the short time that I've been here, learned so much from you Gents, about the different methods of tackling our quest for lure perfection.

Looking forward to sharing all our knowledge together & helping each other out with our issues.

All the Best, The Muskyman!

We were able to get some ice fishing in a few weeks ago, but we had a bit of a thaw & wasn't safe ice thickness, so we're waiting on Mother Nature to co-operate, so we can be back on the ice once again. Great Perch/Pike/Pickerel or Walleye as you down South call them...lol As far as the Lunge, our season ended Dec 15/07 so I'll have to wait till June 1 /08 till it opens once again...the time will pass fast as this is the time of year I do my custom orders & the majority of the lures for my store.

Take care, The Muskyman!

Hi, thanks for your interest.

We in Canada call them Pickerel, the Americans call them Walleye, why I have no idea, just that we cringe when they call them Walleye...lol

I hope these pics give you a good idea of just how veracious Pickerel are.

They can grow up to 36" or almost 1 meter here. They are awesome fish to catch, and are great eating fair, as it's the most prized eating fish in Canada.

The picture attached with the Bloke holding the Pickerel is not myself just a customer, but it's a great example of the size & teeth on a Pickerel.

Hope you like the pics, Cheers M8!

Hi Muskyman

That is a great picture of the guy with the Walleye but something interesting here. In the UK that fish is called a Zander, the zander and walleye are the same fish, notable by their strange eyes that kind of glow in the dark almost. The fish I associate with Pickerel is a very small growing pike species, the world record redfin pickerel is only 1.5lbs :lolhuh:. Follow the link below to see a Pickerel description.
