outdooradvantage
I just started pouring with a new scorpian mold (Bob's Aluminum Scorpian) and they all look like they have cuts in their legs. Not all the way through the legs, just slits. Am I maybe doing something wrong? Taking them out of the mold too fast, something like that? Let me know if you guys have any ideas. Thanks! Thanks!Jeff Here's 3 pictures. It's kind of hard to see what I'm talking about. The first picture is just the lure as it is. The second two are the problem. It is happening on both sides, right and left. Like I said, it is hard to see it in the pictures. Thanks! Jeff
MDC
Jeff It looks like 'cold cracks'. Are you pouring the body then the legs? Try pouring one leg and crossing the body to the leg on the opposite side then move to the next pair of legs. Once the legs are poured then pour the body. Make sure your mold is good and warm. Try warming it in an oven before pouring. Maybe get your plastic a little hotter too.

nova
There is a thread on here for pouring lizards and what is said on that one is the same thing you should be doing for this bait. Run a search for it. www.novalures.com

SwampBaits
I had that mold. If you want a perfect bait you will need to preheat the mold. I kept it on a hot plate turned to the low setting (Walmart hot plate under $10). Then you will see no cold cracks and you can do multiple colors. Bad pic below! GB GONE
I pour this bait without the hot plate. Just pour the mold a couple times with junk plastic that is hot and you are set. You still need to pour the bait rather quickly if you don't use the hotplate set up. I do pour this one just like the lizard.. Body first, then start at the legs closest to the tail and work from top to bottom, top to bottom until legs are complete. Then move to the claws to finish. To get the best bait you need to keep the plastic flowing from the cup and not stop. A little practice and you can pour the legs without issue and without cracks. JDBaits
Had about the same problem today while pouring grubs it and was caused when i stopped my steam, and then a few seconds later started my stream in the same spot

dsmblack
I've been thinking about buying that mld. Is anyone catching anyfish on it. Also on the pictures what color did you use. I like it.
outdooradvantage
This color is green pumpkin. To get this particular shade, I use 1/2 cup of plastic, 2 capfuls of softener, 1/8 cup salt, 15 drops of color, and about 2 pinches of black glitter.
