SWO
I'm trying to come up with a blood red color. I used 2 ounces of LC500 and LC bright red dye. I started with 2 drops and worked my way up to 25 drops in 2 ounces of plastic, but it keeps looking like a pinkish - purple color. I added 1/2 drop of LC black, and it just turned to a light purple. Any ideas?

Any ideas? Are you adding this into baits that have salt? if you are you will have to add 100+ drops of red. as that what it sounds like cause you said pink. if your not make sure you color is shaken up very well, red pigment does settle in the bottom. to get blood red try adding a drop or two of black grape or a dark purple
TTDuckman
LC bright red is not red, it is pink. I have tried to use it more than once and have been disappointed each time. It does however make a nice deep pink that made some baits in to test out some new colors this spring. What are guys using for red? I would love to make cherryseed, but have yet to find a red that is red. Didn't mean to hijak your thread, I am looking for the same thing you are. empire247
lc strawberry red (catalog # 1x313) makes a good red for me with only 2 drops per 2 oz. brett
SWO
Thanks for the replies. I reload my own ammo and have a vibratory tumbler that I use for cleaning my brass. I rigged up a way to attach a bottle of dye to it and it works pretty well. I had it vibrating for a good 3 or 4 minutes. I didn't have any salt in the mix. alsworms
For me, I always used MF red, and LOTS of it. I never even measured red; just poured it in there. If I had to guess, I'd say about 25 drops per ounce. The problem I had with LC was it never did quite get to a blood or brilliant red like I wanted. Didn't matter how much I mixed it. With MF, keep adding it. You'll get the color you want.

SwampBaits
I used LC strawberry, LC Tomato, and LC Black to get a very nice blood red for one customer.
MDC
MF Strawberry and a drop or two of black will make a nice cherry seed. Don't get it near anything you don't want red though. It bleeds.
saint308
LC Strawberry with a little black here as well. I have also been known to throw in some LC Tomato. Saint.
