rainshadow question

Recommended Posts

So i'm looking at their blank models and i want an rx7 casting blank - 1 piece 6'6" med/fast or med lt./fast and i don't see a "casting" blank that i like.

My question is - is there really much difference between a casting blank and a spinning blank? i don't see why you couldn't put a casting seat on a spinning blank i guess...

It is my understanding that people use the spinning blanks for both spinning and casting rods. I built a spinning rod with their 6'6" med. action spin jig rod. I don't see why you couldn't use that rod for a casting for as well. Check out rodbuilding.org. I know that this has been discussed over there. I'm not sure where you live or who you usually order your rod components from but the guys at fishsticks4u are a great resource as well. I usually just call them and tell them what I want and they hook me up.

Hope that helps.

Eric

thanks guys. pretty much what i figured. I just finished up a spinning rod i built on an IMB843 rx7 blank... love the way it feels so far... can't wait to use it. Also - i found this on another site - he has great prices for the rainshadow blanks:

i would call in your order though, had some trouble getting it to go through on the website. Only took 3 days to get here too.:yay:

Bob at Custom Tackle is great! I've been ordering from him for my last 3 rods and he'll make sure that you have the right size reel seat etc. Plus, he's really helpful if you have questions about building or parts. Last time I called, he must've spent a good 45 min answering all my questions.
