Pouring purples

Recommended Posts

You bet! I never pour any purple colors with the pots. When I have to pour junebug or any similar colors, I sitck to using the pouring pans.

I think this also has something to do with the type of plastic I've been using...3-G :? I'm finally about out of the stuff so hopefully that will be the end of these "color" problems. Wish I could be more helpful

I had several batches of purple change color in the pots. I use a digital thermometer in the pot. Plastics used Lurecraft 536 and Calhoun reg. I think it was due to the temp spiking on me. the temps never got above 360. My lee pots temp dial sucks. you have to constantly adjust it. Using Lurecraft 536 I can pour around 310-320. The Calhoun takes a little bit high temp. 330-340. It also might be due to the red flake. I only salt the bottom of the worms after pouring.

Hi Mark,

The only time I have a problem with purple is when adding red flake - like you mentioned. It will turn a brownish color with both the pots and cups. I add the red flake just before I'm ready to pour and it has helped a lot, but you still have to be careful about overheating the plastic.
