Tackle Review

Recommended Posts

Have any of you ever had a person or company conduct a test or review on any of your products? I have an opportunity for this to be done and wondered what your opinion was on this matter. No cost involved other than shipping them some baits to try out. The outcome will have a full wriiten review posted on their site. I guess the downside is, they may not catch a thing due to weather, lake conditions, etc..

As long as you can confirm that this is legit; I would say go for it.

If you can't confirm, or you have a hincky feeling about it, you may wind up just giving someone a bunch of baits for nothing.

I know that more than a few of us have been "contacted" by all sorts of folks for "donations".

I'm not saying that this is what this is; I'm just saying make sure.

Becareful with this, it can be bad and it can be good and it can be a scam.

There was a few places that had an internet site that did this, they were scams and basicallly set up a really nice professional looking website and hit up a bunch of small and some large companies.

in the end it was just a few guys ripping people off for free baits. Remember it only takes about 50-100 bucks and some time to set up a website and you can get pretty much all the free stuff you want.

you are right though the conditions may not be right for your bait or color and then what you get a bad review. or they don't like your bait and try to promote a buddies.

slow news doesn't travel but bad news travels fast especially around the web.

on the upside people may see it and make up there own mind.

in the long run its your customers that will tell you if your baits are good or not.

Can you read other reviews that the site has posted? Two things pop up in my head...

If you can, I would make sure the guy is giving a legit review for products. For example, you wouldn't want a person testing a top water plug in Indiana, middle of February, 30 feet of water @ 39 degrees then blame it on the bait.

The other thing I would look for is this person fit for the bait they are testing? Meaning I would not send a Musky bait to a bass fisherman or a spoon to a guy that has done all plastic bait reviews.

Thats about the only things I would worry about....Jeff

Great point.

On a serious note, this only happened to me once in my years of pouring, and it turned out really well for me and everyone else involved.

The other guys offered you some great advise though. Be careful and check out the site before making your decision. If you're only out a few baits and you're trying to get your company some exposure, I say go for it!

TackleTour is legit and I have always thought they were open and honest about the baits they review. I have read some of their tests where they did not catch anything and still gave a good review. I think they know that sometimes the bass just aren't hitting that bait.

They will check it out for durability, color, action, etc. so make sure you are sending your best baits out.

If you are positive you make a good bait, I'd go for it. Even with just an OK review, as long as it is not bad, you are going to get some business from it.

Tackle tour is probably the best thing that can happen to you. Take your time and select perfect baits to send them. If your baits have design flaws fix them or they will find them. If you are talking about a simple soft plastic bait than you have nothing to worry about as long as what you send them are clean and perfect. They will catch fish on them. One of the biggest benefits to TT is that they will not even do the report if your product is realy bad. Thats why most of their reports are possative. Instead of publicly slammeing a product they just dont publish a report. They send back their opinions on why it was bad. I have talked to Cal on the phone before and he is a geniune good guy. he told me they get a lot of junk sent to them that doesnt make it to review. If they contacted you then they already like your stuff. GET ON IT!!!
