Braided Line
Ran across this forum while "looking" around and it looked like a nice place to join so here I am. Live in the Central Florida area and fish most everywhere. As the St Johns river is rather close (5 mins) I do spend a good bit of time on it. Have a Bass-Boat and all the junk that goes with it. It goes with-out saying if you have a boat..........you`ve got freedom. Being a retired guy I like that. Nothing like fishing during the week when most are at work. Peace and quiet plus you don`t have to keep an eye out for those large boats coming at you at full battle speed with a wake that looks like a tsunami. . Hope to join in and contribute when I see something of interest.
cadman
Welcome aboard, What is your specialty as far as tacklemaking goes?
Braided Line
Welcome aboard,What is your specialty as far as tacklemaking goes? I wouldn`t call anything I do a ...specialty. I`ve made lots of rods over the years and do repair work on reels for guys. That`s about it. The rod repair work comes from guys who maybe broke a guide or tip things like that. Need it "now" whick I can do. Tear down on reels (water dunked, etc.) No problem. Usually I can get them out in a day or two. I still build a few rods but it`s getting to be more work than fun, if you know what I mean. Makes me some spending money but it takes time away from my "power-naps." One things for sure, I din`t want my "hobby" to turn into a .........job.

Braided Line
PhilB: I`ve been to jolly old London..........no thanks. No dis-respect intended. I was going to put a "smiley" here but can`t find one.

Vodkaman
Don't judge England by what you saw in London. It is a sub-normal country to itself. Having said that, I spend little time in the UK these days, preferring the equatorial climates. You are handy with tools, you should consider making some of your own lures. Spend a little time, read from each of the forums and decide which you would like to try. Your background suggests hard baits would be a convenient place to start. But, be warned, lure making is severely addictive.

I do a lot of things but that`s not one of them. I was very inpressed by some of the hard baits I saw on this forum. Lots of talent out there. AS for "equatorial climates." You should try Florida in the dog days of summer....July and Aug.
Spike-A-Pike
AS for "equatorial climates." You should try Florida in the dog days of summer....July and Aug. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt and got out of there. I retired from the Air Force May, 1995 and came to JacksBeach. I got my dead father's restaurant to break even and ready for sale. philB
Dave I thought London WAS England. I myself live in the Kingdom of Yorkshire a totally separate part of the UK much revered by its native inhabitants and steeped in 2000 years of civilised history and Sam Smiths/John Smiths/Tetley/Old peculiar/Speckled hen/Landlords bitter Oooooooh yes . Now that has totally confused our American friends . philB Hail from Leodis
Vodkaman
I used to do all the beer festivals, when I played in the band. We would get free tickets and as half the band didn't like beer, things often got blurry. I like Marsdens pedigree, and the occasional Bishops tipple, when I can find it. philB
Dave Pedigree bitter is on in a lot of pubs and bars in Leeds and very nice too. I am ashamed to say the 'Bishops Tipple' is a new one on me but if the bishop liked it then it must be ok Best beer festival I ever went to was 1985 and held at the Queens Hall in Leeds (the hall is now gone) it was not a hall but the old tram shed. A pal of ours got hold of a roll of beer tickets, 1 ticket = 1 pint. We lost count of how many tickets were used off the roll but we all got totaly legless and all it cost us was the busfare there and whatever it cost to get home, I can't recall how we got home. Happy days philB

MJF
just a quickie, spent some furlough time in London, in the late 60"s , while serving Uncle Sam in Bavaria. Met some very nice people , a bit tough to adjust to the English food styles after being in the rest of Europe. However, the one major thing I enjoyed over there was the Formula One racing niche, been a die hard since the 60's and England also has the Goodwood Speed Festival.
