mdfetz Posted February 1, 2008 Report Share Posted February 1, 2008 I'm a newbee and am getting set-up to enter the custom paint arena. I got an Azteck airbrush from a friend of mine (A470) with 4 nozzles and lots of craft paint. Practiced with some water a little, got some Devcon 2 Ton, a rotisory kit to make a dryer wheel, and made a paint shaker for the paint out of a sawzall (most of it had set around for a while). Was wondering if someone with same brush could give me advice about which color nozzles would be good for cranks (mostly medium sized for bass) and about paint colors and types. I've got lots of colors but not much white or black. Do I need pearl, trans., candy, or some others? Any help would be appreciated. The gray nozzle in my kit seems to be plugged. Thanks Mike! P.S. Theflyingplatypus Posted February 1, 2008 Report Share Posted February 1, 2008 I used an astek airbrush for a while, I just use the gray all purpose nozzle. One thing with the astek airbrushes that I have noticed is that the nozzles kinda clog easy. Thats really all the information I have for ya sorry. mdfetz Posted February 3, 2008 Author Report Share Posted February 3, 2008 Thanks guy's for the info on the nozzles. I'll have to get a gray one to try because that is the one thats shot in my kit. My paint issues are mostly about white and black? I've got a bunch of craft paint colors to use and mix, but I wasn't able to find any pearl white or blue in town (shad colors). I got some white for a base coat and some black & gray (craft paint). Still not sure about Transparent and the 4 or 5 other styles like from createx. dampeoples Posted February 3, 2008 Report Share Posted February 3, 2008 White and black are heavily pigmented and are the most testy of all the colors, I would shoot those through one of the largest nozzles you have, as well as thin them more.
