parrothead127
Do any of you fine gentlemen who pour worms make a copy of the old Fliptail brand worm? I think they were made in Texas someplace. I would be interested in purchasing some it they were for sale. Thanks, Scott
Smallie
MF Manufacturing has a mold similar to what you are looking for. It may be easier for you to buy a mold and pour your own. http://www.fishingworld.com/M-F-Manufacturing/Details.tmpl?ID=981847157125699&Cart=120207999835220431&SKU=ST
sidewinder
Fliptail worms are still being made. I looked them up on the internet a month ago just searching the name fliptail. I believe they had a minimum order of about 60$. They had the worms, lizards, flirt.and a few others. If you have trouble finding them let me know. sidewinder. JSC
Hi Parrot Here is the URL for Flip Tails http://www.fliptail.com/index.htm I had a set of molds for them back in 62 or 63 ... Got a letter to stop making them from Bill Stembridges Lawyer ... he had a patent on all of it. A guy came along and just had to have them so I sold them to him. Here is a Pic of a rigged one http://www.tackleunderground.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=2404&d=1197332530 JSC
charkins
Fliptail was bought by Bomber Lures in the 1980's. I don't know who owns them now. I was ordering the flirts for striper jigs and had to start negotiating with Bomber. The last I knew, the plant was somewhere between Sherman and Dallas Texas. Senkosam
Thanks JSC. Brings back memories of the Whopper Stopper line of baits. Never did catch a fish on the FT lizard, but did catch my fisrt 4lb bass on a chart. Fliptail worm. I think Parrot that you'll have to settle for a one part mold/ one flat side. The last half, being as thin as it is, will never pour all the way down. You might consider making a POP mold.
JSC
Sam I have sold many Blue Flip Tail Lizards for bedding fish here in NWFL. When we were not able to get them for a while it was dangerous for a tackle salesman to be seen alone ... They were really rabid about it. Some guy from AR had them for a while before/after Whopper Stopper had them ... JSC
charkins
Well guys, I guess my memory does NOT serve me well. It was Whopper Stopper and not Bomber that bought fliptail. I apologize for the incorrect information that I provided.
JSC
Charkins No need to apologize for that ... Been a long time and who has it down in "Black & White" ?? and who of us can trust some things to memory ? Have a Good One. JSC
Mr. Fliptail
I know where all of the ORIGINAL Fliptail molds are. They are in Arkansas...not being used at this time.
JSC
Are the ones in Texas from You are do they have a "Knock Off" ?? On the web site they look exactly the same. JSC
Mr. Fliptail
The ones in Texas are the good ones. This gentleman was a partner to my dad several years ago. No one is running any lures on the original molds at this time. Do you know any wealthy businessmen that would like to bring Fliptail back? mradamh
Bob's Tackle Shack has a nice paddle tail. I think I like it better than the 'ole fliptail myself...Definately different, but lots of action. Check his mold out, it's nice. mradamh
JSC
Best bet to sell it is to one of the "Big Companys" in the tackle biz ... It could add to their selection. My 2 cents worth JSC
