Coley
You know since I joined this site I have had many priceless rewards. I am not talking about the BOB, that was great. I am talking about meeting the guys on this site, some only online, some on the phone and a couple in person. New friends that seem to care if you succeed or fail. That help you to no end, that are willing to share almost everything they know about the craft. But, I just had the ultimate experience this hobby has to offer. My six year old grandson, who has already learned to use my bandsaw, lathe, dremel and belt sander and has made a lure. Asked me to come to his school as his "special friend" to talk to his class about how we make baits. I went last Friday. I enjoyed it, they enjoyed it, we had fish shaped cookies for a snack and I showed them how we make cranks, pour jigs and pour plastic baits. I gave all of them a bag with some worms. So, did I receive the ultimate reward, I think so. Thanks for helping me reach this level. Happy Thanksgiving to each and everyone of you and your families. alsworms
Same to you Coley. There's nothing more special than watching little ones learn a craft that you take great pride in. This site is full of great people who care about others. That's what makes it so successful. Happy Thanksgiving to you and all the members. deadlystreamer
Hey Coley, I think it's great you had the opportunity to do the school thing. It's a wonderful feeling of accomplishment when you leave the school and go home. I had the same experience about 8 years ago, (3 years before I retired) I took a semi tractor and tri-axle trailer to school and spent an hour answering questions and allowing them to climb all over my truck. When it was finished I couldn?t send them all home with a bag of trucks, but we all went home happy. I wish we all could have that type of experience. As far as this site and the help and friendship that?s established. Will how do you describe it? Just awesome I guess is the word I'm looking for. Glad your here to enjoy it and the same with the rest of the gang. With Thanksgiving upon us we can add this TU site to our list to be thankful for. After all, we almost lost it, We can be thankful that Jerry came to the rescue and made it all possible. Thanks Jerry and bless you and your Family. Happy Thanksgiving to you all. Big Splash
I gave my 11 year old niece a fly tying kit for Christmas last year. She loves fishing and has easily won the Big Splash kids ice fishing derby two years in a row. Her enthusiasim for fly tying surprised me... she tied flies all Christmas day. With only a few hours of casual instructions she was making flies as good as most men use from the flybox. She sold her first dozen flies in the early spring! What I'm saying is, it is never to early to get the kids started fishing. Tackle making is a rewarding hobby that helps to build an understanding of why we catch each fish. Happy Thanksgiving to all in the US! ( We have our Thanksgiving in Oct. in Canada.)

Charles Mitchell
It is unreal to me how a hobby such as we have can bring people together. The feeling that we have for this always seems to be the same. Help is only a matter of a click away. I have had the good fortune to have met with Coley and Gene Grahm. I would not take anything for that experience. I look forward to a time when more of us can get together and share our passion of lure making. My thanks to everyone who has helped to make this board what it is. Charlie Mitchell, AKA boyhowdy
