altering a muskie bait

I want to cut the tail off a jointed Believer and add a curly tail to it. I assume it is hollow inside. Anyone ever try this? What would you use to close off the open area, a small piece of Lexan, with epoxy? Maybe add a BB inside??? Leaving it open probably wouldn't hurt, but I still need to attach a tail. Thanks for any tips. Bruce

Either fill it with styrofoamballs or glue a piece of lexan to the open part with epoxy or just remove tail add curly tail with thruwire

The 10" and 13" jointed Believer I saw on Thorne Brothers look like they use a split ring to hold the sections together. After you loose the tail, you could either add a trailer hook tp hold your curly tail or add a screw coil to mount your curly tail... I would at least try the trailer hook, 7 hooks sounds better than 6 to me.

Just make sure that the eyelet on the rear of the bait is horizontal, so the hook eye will be horizontal (with the split ring vertical). then rig the plastic tex-exposed with the keel of the hook down.

I see now why a few answered the way you did. I planned on leaving the 2nd peice on the bbait. That is what I was going to slice open. I believe that is what Drifter Tackle has done. I could remove said tail and add a treble and grub too.

Finlander that is what i did for a friend of mine that had the tail come apart from sitting in the sun. I think the hook up percentage will be better with a treble and grub.
