Spike-A-Pike
Kribman. You said a mouth full. Areas north of Merrill, Wisconsin were definitely low and it had a pretty negitive impact on the corn crop last summer too. Many of the homes out in the country that rely on well water and I always think about the water table levels.
Vodkaman
We had hail stones a few weeks ago. I thought it was stones from the car in front at first, but there was no other traffic and some of the hail stayed on the hood. It was all over in seconds. The taxi driver didn't even notice. Apparently Kuala Lumpur is the most lightening struck city. I can believe it, seems like every day, in reality more like one in two. Couldn't find any snow fall figures though. Spike-A-Pike
I can't find a total snow fall for this year but I would guess it's around 12 to 14 inches max., and that has all melted away already. We have gotten several good days of rain in the past few weeks. The most interesting thing I've seen this year weather-wise was thunder snow. It lasted about 45 minutes and is kind of odd looking. Orion
Thunder snow??? sounds like the name of a hair metal band.
Brian_Va
We get thunder snow in Virginia about once a year. But we haven't had any real snow for once and I'm not complaining, oughta make for nice fishn' this year. Then again we gotta pass the March test first. Still 10-12 in. of ice on the lakes and the rivers look like chocolate milk with debris flowing down. Oh well, plenty of painting and tying to do. smirkplug
We had 2 perfect days of 70-75 degrees on the beach last week and i tried for 2-3 pound barred surfperch on 4 pound line and 3-1/2 inch sluggos. Unfortunatly i only caught 1- 4in. 4 oz. on my second cast and i fished for 4 more hours in 57 degree water with swimtrunks on. I did see a corbina feeding on the shore and he's about 3 months early. Now its going to rain this week and i have to wait until the toxic bacteria levels go down before i wade back in. Our surf teams all have their hepatitus shots and i would rather deal with clean snow.
CreekMonster
I wouldn't know too much about the snow, other than its consistant. Down here in bama it was 60 degrees and sunny one day, the next day 24 and snow flurries, 2 days later its 65 with tornadoes and so on. I wish it would just make up its dang mind and do something constant for at least a week. Its a wonder I'm not sick as a dog. lol Jay
Orion
The snows pretty much gone in NM now. Been averaging about 60f at noon.
bgcountry00
yeah it was in the mid 30's today and now we are getting some more snow we need about 4 more feet for me to be happy
Orion
I'll be up in MN next month for easter weekend. Going ice fishing at Lake of the Woods.
Vodkaman
My brother bought me an ice fishing rod and a pair of spikes for Xmas 2006. Cheers bro! Found it difficult to use, I kept missing the hole when casting. I'm sure there's a knack to it.
Orion
I hope that's a joke.
KcDano
No, I think Dave is serious. He mentioned taking his rig to the TU meet in Clinton and finding someone to help him with his technique and distance!

Vodkaman
I've since built an 8ft extension piece, thanks to all the rod building information here on TU. Problem solved. Now all I have to do is lower the lure through the hole. That's engineering!
KcDano
Dave, that 8 ft. extension will get you the distance your looking for. With a little practice you will soon develop the skill required to execute a cast with the perfect arc that will drop that lure right in the hole! Good Job! Vodkaman
The biggest drill bit we could find was 3/4 dia. I've caught four lips so far!
KcDano
Dave, as advanced in the game as you're, I am sure if you revisit the fundamentals of icehole casting you will correct the problem.
Spike-A-Pike
Dave. You drinking gin again? You know how that stuff messes with your casting range.
Vodkaman
I hate iceholes, I'll stick to casting resin!
KcDano
What type of pole are you going to user for that?
Vodkaman
A stirring rod.
Orion
IMHO..... You guys took that a little to far.
Spike-A-Pike
As long as nobody gets hurt and has a smile, you can never go to far (normally). So grin and bear it (or is it beer it, I get confused???), if it passes, it was a kidney stone (ooch!)
