question for the jig makers

Recommended Posts

Lock wire pliers, I remember those from my aircraft apprenticeship. From a quick search, they are also used on motor bikes. A very useful tool if you are doing large numbers.

Not sure about this application though, they might have a better application for the hard baits forum, for making screw eyes etc.

Should we be concerned that so many of the Gentlemen her have Nail Poloish on hand??????????

 Good point!

Basseducer, I have gotten pretty good with my bodkin, although if I have too much caffeine I can get some overslop. I will see how steady I can be with the hard-as nails.

Here is something that ya'll might find funny.

Generally I have my packages I order sent to work here, so that I can drool over them faster. A couple of weeks ago I was expecting an order from Charles at fishingskirts.com as I approached the gal at the fron t desk, I asked:

'Has a package come for me from fishingskirts.com?"

She looked at me with the strangest of looks. To which I broke the silence by saying....

" I have a cute little black number coming and I can't wait to get it!"

Then I just walked away.

(BTW I am 5'9 and 250 lbs.....You get the picture I am painting here).

Hehhehehehehehhe

Vman.

Put about 4 or 5 wraps around the shank of the with bucktail or a silicon skirt, pull it tight, and finish it off with with a nice tight twist. Curl it over and cut it to about a 1/4 inch. I'd never go that short on an aircraft safety wire but, a jig should be okay. As long as it doesn't poke you, that would be the main concern.

I used to have an old Harly knuckle head engine and if hadn't had safety wire holding the primary and cylinders in place, I'd still be looking for the bolts that kept coming out. I love those pliers.

Oh Yes .. Good Old Safety Wire Days (50's for me) (skint Knuckles and all) If you ever worked on a good old Recip engine and had to get in those hard places ..... we fudged a little and took a piece of 1/8" (i think) Aluminum Tubeing .. drilled 2 holes close to the end to pull the wire into so you could twist it .. (the other end you bent to form a handle) ...

But soft wire with a couple of wraps on rubber or latex makes it "Flair" real good and only a couple of twist on the ends is all it takes .. clip off and bend down.
