Orion
What are everyone favorite fishing knots for different applications and different line?? Jigging? Casting? Trolling? Different types of lures? Super Lines (ex. Fire Line)? Mono? Flouro? Etc.
nova
I basically use 2 knots for all my fishing. When joining two lines together( super line and mono) I use what's called the triple surgeon's knot. It's a very simple knot to tie and when it's done and the tags are trimmed it looks very much like a bloodknot. Some of the first sportfishing I ever did was flyfishing and I didn't really start spinfishing until the early 80's. I used to make my tapered leaders with that knot. The other knot I use is called the Duncan loop. Another easy knot to tie. What I like about this knot is that you can back the knot off to create a loop which is great for crankbait fishing in two ways. First the loop allows more action to the crankbait because it is not tightly tied to the line. The second is that the loop acts like a shock absorber ;if you get very hard hits; as it slides down on itself as it tightens to the bait/hook. www.novalures.com
Orion
Hehe, I've used both of those knots. I forgot to say what knots I use... -For connecting lines together like Fire Line and Flouro, I use a Uni to Uni knot. -For jigging I use a... loop knot? You put the line through the eye and double it up then loop that around your pointer and middle finger and put the jig through 3 times. -Some times I'll use a trilene knot for trolling and cranking/jerking. -Almost all of the rest of the time ill use a Palomar knot. ( I mainly use Fire Line and it's one of the best knots for Fire Line so... and it's easy to tie.)
Spike-A-Pike
The Clinch and Improved Clinch knots for mono to a hook for bass and pan fish. Palomar Knot for all braided lines. And nothing beats an Arbor Knot and a little tape to attach that line to a reel. For docking the boat, nothing beats a clove-hitch. And as general purpose knot that is easy to tie into a loop, my favorite, the bowline knot.
Troul Hawk
There is a cool thing that NAFC has on their show. "Knot wars" http://www.fishingclub.com/Main/default.aspx
Orion
I'm a subscriber to NAFC. So far they've been great. The info on that site is some good stuff. The knots wars is pretty fun to watch. So far the Palomar has won but just barely.
