raidergrad
2 Part Question: I am trying to make some molds of some swimbaits that I have. My first attempt was 95% sucessful as I created a usable mold out of Plaster of Paris. I am not satisfied with the fine details of it though as it looks like there were some small bubbles in the plaster when I pushed the bait down into it. I want to try it again as I got my plaster way too thick before I put the bait in I think. Any suggestions here are appreciated as I could not find the article here on tu.com so I used instructions from bassresource.com. Next, to pour swimbaits, what kind of plastic do you guys reccommend? Is Calhoun what I need? I plan to use the microwave to heat and only expect this to be a small scale operation to see what I can produce, and if I get some usable baits, I can trade with buddies. I want to start with a milk white color but would like to be able to pour the veins, layered colors that you see on most commercial baits. Will this even work with a PoP mold? What can you guys tell me?
longhorn
Go to the TU homepage and scroll down to the Knowledge base....there are many tutorials on how to do all kinds of stuff including many on mold making. Good luck.
