reefaddiction
I tried to pour floating frogs tonight and had some trouble. I using bobs buzz frog mold. The mold works great its the pourer? LOL I was wondering if someone could give me some advice. I using lurecraft plastic with their floating bubbles. I mixed one cup of plastic to 4 TBSP of floating bubbles. The bait floats but when I rigged the bait with a 4/0 wide gap hook the nose goes under the water but the rest stays above the water. Is this normal or should it totally float? How much do you guys add of the floating additive per cup? I'm heat my plastic first, then adding additive, softner, and then trying to make a color out of it. Making a nice color is a real pain but, I have that part covered I think. Thanks again Scott
spungee
Scott, I am by no means an expert, but I too had a problem with the hook weighing down the nose of my frog. My remedy was to peg a styrofoam cone (typically used for carolina rigging) just ahead of my frog and it helped tremendously. It even helps to deflect weeds and pads away from the nose of the frog instead of tearing at it. As far as the decent coloring goes......we all feel your pain there.....The bubbles add so much white to the plastic that you literally have to double or sometimes triple the coloring (depending on the color itself) to achieve the right color. Hope this helps. -spungee-
Orion
I was going to say to add a float to the front but spungee covered it.

g3kk0
M-F Float additive works really well. Just be careful with exactly how much you use. I would double the dominant color of your bait when using the additive. Using too much will "dust" your plastic, the recommendation is 1 tablespoon per 4 ounces of plastic. I don't like real opaque baits, so I dry measure "sluff off" the top of the spoon. The link to the additive is here : M-F Float Additive It is a high float too, you will be able to see the eyes of the frog above the water after it is rigged. Good luck! Smallie
This thread seems to be saying the MF microspheres give better results than Lurecraft's. Is this correct?
