bobv
Jann's has a new seal coat in their 2008 catalog, they claim no mixing and water clean up and hard as epoxy. Has anyone tried it yet?
Lunker Jim
I bought some of this to try out and it works pretty well, but I've had the best luck by spraying a thin coat of Parma clear before applying this stuff. The couple of times I didn't clear before final topcoat, it peeled the paint and I had to start over. I like it on jerkbaits since it is thinner than devcon once it cures. mark poulson
What's it like to work with? How's it applied, what is the "open" working time, how many coats does it take to get a good finish? Inquiring minds want to know! )
mark poulson
I just went on Jann's and couldn't find it. Can you post the name of the product?
Lunker Jim
Here's the link to the product. http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/fishing-lure-paint/023025000411.aspx I've been applying it with brushes with pretty good success. Working time is shorter than with devcon, but you don't have to mix anything. You could easily do multiple coats because it dries really thin. Like I mentioned in my previous post, I did have some bad reactions with Createx when it is applied directly onto the paint. So I just used some Parma clear, or pretty much any water based clear, for a protective coat and then used this stuff for the final topcoat. When applying this stuff, I recommend you brush it on kind of quickly and then get it onto your drying wheel to level it out. Once it starts setting up, you can't really do any tricks to level it out like with the devcon. Hope this helps.
mark poulson
Thanks for the link. I just ordered a bottle, to see if it works for me. I'll let you know how I do with it.
jflures
I used this product. It brushes on and is easy to use. It takkes about 5 coats to get a good finish. It only works over water-based paint. It peels off if it is used over any other.

CreekMonster
Its not near as tough as epoxy. I've had some good and bad experiences with this stuff. Its o.k. if your making lures for yourself, but I wouldn't recomend using it on lures that you plan to sell. Just my Jay
