sarge
What produces the squeal in a buzzbait? I prefer a buzzbait with more of a metallic squeal. However, they all look pretty much the same- a blade spinning against a rivet.
maximusgunn
There are a few things you can do, if you build them your self you can use a lighter wire like .032 and then scuff the rivet top where it meets the blade and scuff the part of the blade that meets the rivet. You can let it hang out the window to wear the rivet down, as well. Hope this helps
Troul Hawk
I don't remember where I read/saw/heard it from( maybe it was on here...lol) but one of the pro's takes his new buzzbaits and holds them out the window or tapes them to the rear view mirror of his truck(outside obviously), as he goes down the highway it really wears them in and causes them to squeak. I also remember part of that tip was to be careful tho, you can wear one out pretty quick as well.
ldzoller
I think I might remember reading somewhere that you can soak your rivets in bleach for awhile (not sure how long) and then build the bait and it will squeak much sooner with use. I think it had to do with the materials of the rivet, though. Most rivets are aluminum, I think, and this might have been with stainless steel rivets. Anyone else ever heard of this? arkbuck
if you will take a pair of side cutters and crimp the rivet to where it will not spin it will squeal like a pig. one of KVD's top tips.

Fatman
I read that tip about holding them out the window of your car in Bass Master magazine and yes be very carefull as you can wear them out quickly in the wind.
Richard Prager
If you crimp the rivet, about 60 seconds in front of a fan will do the trick. Crimping the rivet is the key, otherwise you have both the blade and the rivet spinning. Some people also use rusty rivets.
turkeylegs1246
Remove the blade and use a tapered concrete nail to mash/repunch the lower hole. Reassemble. Go Hawg calling!
Bterrill
Use two counter rotating blades and bend the rear of the front one so it knicks the rear. The bait always stays on plane and clackity clack is killer.
The Dutchman
This month's In-Fisherman has a very good article on making Buzzers squeal. Give it a look.
