Sixgun
I'm looking at pouring my own jigs for walleye fishing. We primarily use 5/8 , 3/4, and 1 ounce jigs. To go that heavy it looks like I will have to move into a "saltwater" mold. (I doubt Do-It will make me a walleye jig mold in 5/8, 3/4, and 1 oz.) I'm looking at the "Ultra Minnow" mold, but it takes 630 hooks and not the 570's that I would prefer. Any ideas, or are they interchangeable? Thanks, Ray
Zib
Do-it only makes the walleye jig mold up to 5/8oz. If you want bigger than that you would need to have a custom mold made. I'll be trying out the walleye jig & ultra minnow jig in the Detroit River in a few weeks hopefully.
mikel7@mac.com
I have used a dremel to modify a lot of my molds. I just worked on a round head to except 60 degree hooks yesterday works great. there are always minny jigs on ebay.
Sixgun
Thanks guys. Let me rephrase the question...Will an Aberdeen style hook (the 570) still fit in a mold designed for O'Shaughnessy hooks (the 630). Both styles are 90 deg. bend jig hooks, but the 630 uses thicker gauge wire. Thanks, Ray

A 4/0 aberdeen Eagle Claw #570 will fit the 1/2, 3/4 and 1 oz jigs. You can see in the pic below, that it will not fit in the 1-1/2 oz ultra-minnow jig. On the other 3, you may get some flash around the lower part of the collar since the aberdeen hook is thinner, but you can easily trim it off. I won't know for sure, unless I poured these with the hook in place.
Sixgun
cadman, Thank you. That's exactly the info I was looking for. I can now purchase this mold in confidence, knowing it will work. Thanks again! Ray
