jenn49445
I am using Dels combo stick mold and am having a problem with my 4 and 5 inch stick baits. I have used this mold for a while with no problems, now I am getting fine cracks (running length wise) in my baits. There is nothing wrong with the mold itself, I'm sure I have to be doing something wrong, but can't figure it out. Anyone who knows what I need to do please help. nova
Are you warming your molds prior to pouring the baits? It may also be that your plastic is not hot enough and/or you are pouring too slowly. www.novalures.com
MDC
Warm your mold in a toaster oven or on a hot plate and maybe heat your plastic a little more and pour a little faster. How cold is it where you are?
MDC
Nova types faster
EugeneM
Try to heat the mold and pour faster and pour down the center without the plastic running down the side of the mold.
nova
MDC; I'm up to 2 fingers now. lol www.novalures.com
jmik26
Its from the plastic running down the side of the mold before it actual fillls. Try and pour down the center and pour a little faster, it will get better with practice
jenn49445
I am in Michigan, and I pour in our basement. After reading your tips, I have tried getting my plastic hotter (almost to the consistency of water). It seems to be getting much better. It's still there, but not as bad. Our basement is cooler (it is a unfinished basement), so I will also try heating the molds a little. I really appreciate you guys' help. Thanks a bunch. Delw
Jmik hit it right on the money. Becareful heating up molds you can warp them, and ruin them if the mold gets too hot. make sure they lay on a flat surface and dont get them too hot
