zx202guy
Folks, I am looking to pour a "line through the head" jig similar to Vertical Lure's Jig X. The part I need help with is the line thru the head part. I understand I can put a rod in the mold...but how do I get the rod out of the head when done? I would think the lead would stick right to the rod like it does to a hook? CAn I oil this with WD40 or similar to help? Is there an insert out there that won't melt so I can pour an insert right in? Thanks for the help in advance.
reeves
Guy, I think what you need is a piece of brass rod or wire, the lead won't stick to it. Another hint, keep a bar of handsoap on your workbench, before inserting the brass wire in the mold - run it across the handsoap. This will act as a release agent for the wire to be removed easily. Good Luck.
zx202guy
Thanks REeves, How about the insert material?
KcKid
I just started pouring my own jig heads last year. I just use the pins that come with my Do-It mold. They're tight after you pour them, I just use some plyers and pull or wiggle the pin out and its ready for my weedgaurd.
