Old man in the boat
I have hit the point where I really should have someone else pouring heads for me. This happened at the same time that I have someone that has the skills and is available. The question is what is fair? I provide all materials. Any help will be appreciated. mikel7@mac.com
I don't know what it would be. Seems like they cost more direct from do-it than barlows. It would take years to get your money back by making your own jigs. It's just a hobby.

wilfish4774
Pouring the jigs is just a small part of actually making a finish jig. Are you speaking of just pouring the jigs or actually finishing them? I see many jigs sorts and kinds of jig heads that people sell on ebay but very few have the hooks that I like. If you are indeed speaking of having someone pour your jig heads for you I would suspect that you are in the right location to find someone to do that for you. Basseducer
Old Man, Since you are providing everthing, I would say 5 cents each would be a fair price. I have had inlaws do this during recovery periods from various injuries and what not. i just didn't allow any of the youngsters work with the lead. Spike-A-Pike
You might see if your local high school has a metal shop and if the instructor could recommend someone... You may be able to work out a trade arrangement instead of payment, might also pass on the skill to a new kid.
wilfish4774
Taking into consideration that nearly every mold will have to be modified to some degree, often times more than once, the costs of materials, time, and the very necessary "experience" at pouring correctly. These days I could not see any jig specialist pouring custom jigs for any less than .75 each. I wish I could have found a person to make the jigs I fashion and use before I became involved. I am sure I would have saved alot of money and time but at that time I had no choice but to learn since the person that I use to purchase my jigs from passed away. It is very time consuming and as with anything making jigs involves alot of time and trial and error to become decent at it and at least in my experience, the jigs that I fashion now versus the first jigs I attemped 15 or more years ago are no comparision. mkvnmtr
Think about an hourly wage. I would assume someone looking for work pouring jigs in the US would be happy with about $10 an hour. On small jigs pouring a full mold of about 6 spaces in the 1/2 on range I quite often can pour 500 in a morning of 3 or 4 hours. If it is only 1 hole you have to pour it will be less. If you have to break off the sprue and file smooth that has to be considered. You should be able to come up with a figure where he can make $50 in a evening of work. You do not mention the quanity you are interested in but a few thousand should not be much work. If you are interested in 50,000 or so I might be interested. RAWJigs
I am in the same boat as you man. This hobby went from doing it for me and a couple friends. Those couple friends started catching fish and letting their friends try them, then their friends tried them and so on and next thing I know I have my e-mail inbox and phone are blowing up. I got lucky that my wife wanted to learn to pour. Now I am teaching her how to make the skirts. I have my painting down to a science and gluing in my weed guards to a science so I only let her pour and make skirts and that helps tons. I am with whoever mentioned going to the local high school and seeing the Ag program or something of that nature and seeing if he had a student that might be interested.
