mikel7@mac.com
OK, anyone using fluorocarbon weed guards? If so what size and where do you get em?
clamboni
I don't think they're available for sale anywhere. I tried making them......... Couple problems. 1. I couldn't get the slight curl out that's in the line from the spool it comes on. Tried heating it, hanging weights from it, and hanging it......the curl just wouldn't come out. 2. Flurocarbon just isn't stiff enough to use as a weedguard, IMO. Not even the ones on the evolution jig. Just too soft, Especially on a $5 jig. 3. I had a lot of trouble getting it stay together once I melted it. I also think it's just not necessary. If you match the color to the skirt, the skirt will hide teh regular plastic ones anyway. If you're set on it though, just use the line diameter that you think will work best and try to get it to stick at one end. I just used a skirt collar to keep it together and that kept it nice and round. I want to say I used 40 lb test. Higher than that it was just too thick to get enough strands.
