Nathan
I check in about 6-7 times a day,and I am at work!!..Nathan
woodsac
I read and respond to 9 ( I just counted ) fishing related forums. Depending on my workload, I might check up to 30 times a day  They are all in one spot in my favorites, and I just start at the top and work my way down. I guess it helps that sitting in front of a computer is part of my job requirement
alsworms
When you give up a day of fishin' to talk about fishin'....... then you know you've got problems

Stick~em
Yeah! And when the wife is yelling at you for something all the time and she's not out there shopping, well, you're not fishing enough!!! Mike
alsworms
I gotta try that one out on my wife. Somehow, I don't think it'll fly though.........
Mercury
But what happens if your wife is also your fishing partner? Hell she even told me before your being a pain in my a$$, Get out of here and go fishing or somthing! I guess some of us have it worse than others.... Celticav
My wife paints all our heads and helps with topcoating and making the skirts. She loves to fish and the spinnerbait is her favorite lure. I actually get berrated for not taking her out on the water if its been longer than a couple of weeks and believe me I am not complaining a bit, just wanted to brag is all
funny farm
My wife has nothing to do with my heads  . She does help me spend the "profit" I make on lures .
alsworms
My wife is great, but a fisherperson she is NOT! She'll fish once every 5 years or so. I asked her to package some worms once, and she lasted about 10 minutes Hey Mercury.....is that the view from your front door????? When can I move in????? Mercury
Yeah Chris it is. Kinda makes ya wonder why I love fishing so much huh? Darn have to go such a long way to wet the line. Never get a chance to go and that darn commute!! Woke up, looked outside, calm water and this sudden urge to grab the camera. Went to the Mississippi and rock river this weekend, didnt have luck on either one. Figure I will stay home. this next weekend.
alsworms
You got it rough Mercury..... Attached is a picture of the house I WISH I lived in. I have been fishin' our river for years, and every time I hit this cove I think about taking a picture. Well this time I did! I took this shot right after I released a nice 5-pounder. The picture doesn't really do the house justice because it only shows about a third of the place. It twists and turns back around behind the trees. The owner has never fished in his life. What a waste having a beautiful place like that just inches from incredible bass fishin'......and they don't fish
Nathan
Hey Al,what river was that taken on,remember I'm from your neck of the woods..Nathan
Mercury
Shoot that looks like a killer small mouth river for out here! That doesnt look like the kings river, where else do you have to fish? The Merced river used to be a good fishery but I dont know about it anymore.
Stick~em
Hey, I can't get this woman in the boat let alone get her to anwer the phone for orders. But, she has other qualities that make up for it... Screemin' Reels! Mike
muskysucker
Alsworms, If you had that houe, could you see the honey do list!! you wouldn't fish that much or make your lures. Fun to look at and think if I could only live there.
alsworms
Yeah I hear ya Musky, but that honey-do list would HAVE to be put on hold ............. The river you guys are looking at is the San Joaquin; smack dab in the middle of California. I am fortunate enough to live 3 miles from the shoreline. Not quite the luxury that Mercury has, but it ain't bad. ....... It's loaded with Largemouth, Spotted Bass, Crappie, and Bluegill. The Smallie population has dwindled, but when you catch one it's usually pretty good size. My biggest largemouth was 7 1/2 pounds caught 2 summer's ago, but I've seen plenty of 10's and 12's. Been fishin' the river for 17 years and I've seen maybe 10 other fisherman on it during that time. Talk about "Low Pressure" Fishin' ..... I use a little 2-man Water Scamp boat, and it just works great. I can back that sucker right up to the water and I've got good fishin' 3 miles upstream and downstream. Nathan.......if you're ever back in this area.....shoot me an email and I'll take you anytime. Just don't tell anyone else about my "secret" spot Here's another shot of our river...... a nice and peaceful inlet that always produces fish for me
Mercury
Shoot next time I get to the san Joaquin valley i will have to stop by and say HI! I have made a few trips to Merced and Modesto tha past few years. If I go fishing out there the price for a out of state liscense would be HUGE. I thought the resident price was like 24.00 a year. I only pay 13.50. must be nice to have a low presure fishing area. Is the water run off from Yosemity?(sp?) That would sure be cold if it was.
alsworms
It originally comes from the Yosemite area, but we're 80 miles downstream, so it's not that bad. This time of year the surface temp. is about 65-70 degrees. You're welcome to come anytime. I always need a fishin' partner I've got one more picture to show off. It's not much to look at, but it always makes for a super bedding area. I caught 3 nice bass on Chirmy's green lizard in this spot a couple weeks ago. Way To Go Chirmy!!!! Nathan
Al,I'll definatley take you up on that.Mercury,A buddy and myself use to leave a vehicle a few miles below Snelling, then drive our other vehicle to the park in Snelling and put our float tubes in on the Merced. We'd pick a few Trout up around the park, but the further down stream we'd get we would start picking up Smallies, and a few large mouth. What a kick!! And the float in the tubes was half the fun!!!!..Nathan
Mercury
Oh man Nathan, I know exactly where your talking about! The small pasture right before G Grade road (just before hwy 59) was where I tended a small ammount of cattle and did all the fencing. I was so pissed when I kept going out and find the hmongs and other fishermen would cut my barbed wire and let the cattle out, Just so they didnt have to stretch the fence to get between it. Just after the salmon run is when it usualy happened. People were always tubbing down the merced river and park just outside the pasture. But man that water was always COLD! I even ran teh dredge tailings looking for any quarts/gold with my metal detector so I know exactly where your talking about.
alsworms
It sure is a small world! I fished the Merced in October last year and did really well. We caught several native trout in the 2-3 pound range. It was too cold for bass fishing, but I plan on going back this summer. We should all "hook" up. Nathan
That would be a blast if the 3 of us could hookup and float the merced.Merc.,did you work for Gallo when you were taking care of cattle? Thats the only area I've ever seen that had blacktop lanes in the orchards.Must be nice to have that kind of money!!..Nathan
Mercury
No, I did work at the livingston cellars. Made wine for a season. It was only about 10 head that I helped take care of. I was able to take care of the ground squirrels out there as well. Have you tried stevens creek for small mouth? If im not mistaken it was the creek that is between Hilmar and Stevenson. I know that their is a small park and across the road was a tavern. The water their moved pretty fast, and has nice bends in it. Might be a good place to try out if you havent already. Shoot I wish I knew you guys when I lived out their, It would have been a blast to hook up and take off! Hey Chris, whats the word on the kings river? Yes tons of Jetski's I know, But didnt know if you ever hit it.
