wildevobaits
I am making a few custom inline buzzbaits for my brother. The bait looks like it is going to be 9-10 inches long. What whould be a good treble size selection for a bait like this. I was thinking between 2/0 and 4/0, but I do not get alot of time for Musky fishing here in Tennessee; largemouth are just much easier to find. Spike-A-Pike
In southern IL, around Lake Kinkaid, 2/0 through 4/0 is the normal size range. Just make sure your using a good sharp hook right out of the box, VMC seems pretty good any more. What part of TN is he musky hunting in? wildevobaits
Thanks for the hook info. He is fishing on the Collins River near McMinnville, TN; one of the few bodies of water that is still stocked in Tennessee for Musky. From what he tells me, 40+ inch fish commonly follow to the boat, and quite a few are landed about that size. Last trip he landed a 40.5 inch fish going about 20 lbs. Kevin Cochran
I wouldn't go anything less than 5/0 if you are making it 9-10 inches long. 2 5/0's would work or 2 6/0's. No need for having hooks that are sharp right out of the box, most musky fisherman use a hook file to sharpen them anyway.
