I think it may depend on what your cooking on or in as well, for me I use a burner and add the salt after it is cooked. Once cooked, I mix the color and flake in so it gets stirred really well, then slowly dump in the desired amount of salt while continuing to stir while pouring in the salt, never had any clumping issues.
