Pa_angler
Hello everyone, i just recently joined TU and already have found so much good information. this is actually my first thread on the sight. Anyway i'm finally starting to get more serious into my lure making. i'm working on making 7"-11" Bucktail lures for musky. i've ordered a good many parts from stamina, but still need some more helpful information. i'm not exactly sure how it's all put together so a diagram would be very helpful. and wandering what size stainless steel wire to use. i'm completely in the dark with these things, and need alot of help, so any information will be greatly appreciated!! thanks, pa_angler

Zib
A Lake St. Clair musky guide that I know makes his own bucktails (sells them also) & he uses wire with a .045" diameter. His bucktails have a long wire shaft so they put out more vibration that the standard bucktails that are sold in most stores. Here's his website: MuskiBob Robert Brunner Fishing Guide, Instructor, Speaker
Cuttem Jack
Pa-Angler, Welcome to Tu. If you go to the member submitted tutorials, you'll see how I build my bucktails with flashabou. Hope it helps. I make mine out of .051 diameter wire.
Musky_Stalker
I used .51, but downsized to .45. It's easier to work with and beads fit better and clevises spin freer. Mepps uses .41 wire, so strength is not an issue.
Spike-A-Pike
Pa_angler. First, welcome to the Tackleunderground. There is no one perfect way to bend a muskie spinner. Even the guys that have been making them for years still disagree. I put a how-to in the Members Submitted Tutorials also, there's one on flashabou by Cutt'em Jack, and there is another on just on hand bending the wire to make your spinners. I've added this photo to give you an idea how it all comes together. At sometime in the future, you may want to invest in a wire bender or tacklemaker. After your hand stop working like a 20 year olds, you'll have to find a few work arounds.
