Carolina Slim
I am having trouble pouring clear baits using glitter. I am using Calhoun Plastic and LC glitter and softner. The baits are off color and not clear. Is this something that a heat stabalixer will help? Heating with microwave and using a Del-Mart mold. Thanks for the help. Senkosam
According to LC, heat stabilizer will help, as well as slowly heating the plastic or not overheating it. If I microwave, I use 30 second zaps on high to get the plastic to the different stages leading up to a total liquid. Stirring is always very important. I start my Lee Pot on 5 and work up to 6 or 7 when pouring multiple baits fast. Del should be able to help you since he uses Calhoun and sells it at a good price. Delw
When pouring clear baits with glitter this is a little something I learned by trial and error. I heat the plastic up in a 1-2 cup pyrex, add a little softener and stabilizer. when I pour the plastic I use a lurecraft pouring pan, I pour the heated plastic into the pouring pan then add glitter into the lurecraft pouring pan.. reason being the glitter bleeds pretty bad and whenyou reheat the plastic with glitter in it it will color more.
