Mend It problem

Recommended Posts

I purchased some mend it plastic repair solvent at $11.99 per oz ($1534.72 per gallon). I had read on another site about guys having problems with evaporation. They said they used it once and it worked great but when they went back to use it again half the contents had evaporated. After I read this I marked my bottle at the fluid level. I have not used mine nor opened it and it's already started to go away. Just FYI.

I would imagine that the cap really doensn't seal. If it isn't teflon lined then it is going to escape. You could probably find a cap and place a teflon cap liner in it so you could seal it when not in use. I think someone said it was MEK based so not as volatile as some organics but still would evaporate readily.

this is a normal problem with mend-it..

I sell the stuff..

Yes,

it is MEK that you need to add back to the glue..

I can not find MEK in my area, so Acetone is what I have to use and it works well to.Add a small amount to the bottle and let it set over nite then shake it together the next day.

The manufacturer likes to use the glue after it has evaporated a small

amount so it is a little thicker and stays put on the bait better and doesn;t run off..

I race slot cars too & we use Vibra-tite thread locker on some areas of the car.It comes in a glass jar and it evaporates away too.
