split ring on in line spinner

i want to make inline spinners some use a split ring on the hook others dont i know the ring is there in case you want to change hooks question i have is does the ring hinder the action of the lure? why or why not? thanks tim

Because you're making your own, if the hook needs replacing, just cut the eye loop and rebuild the spinner with a new hook and new piece of wire. Or, cut the hook eye, put on a split ring at that time with the new hook. I'm not a fan of split rings unless they're absolutely necessary.

I use a split ring just to keep my options. I tie a lot of my own bucktails directly to the treble hook, a carry over from when I was a kid. I will tie up as many as 4 or 5 similar, but different colored dressed treble hooks. I also like to swap out from a treble to a trailer hook to swap in a plastic now and then.

If you are going to add buck coils, you may even add two split rings into the combination and add an additional treble hook.
