braveviper
I recently started doing spinnerbaits and purchased the little blue bender.I cant seem to get the top loop all the way closed. There is always a gap which could set the blades loose. The directions are basic at best.Maybe im doing something wrong? robbor
Ive never used a bender but am currently making one. Normally on metal you have to bend past where you want for spring in the metal. You may try bending the loop so it overlaps the main wire then tweaking it into line causing a slight force against the gap. You may also check stanley as I recall they had some baits that had a twist there to stay closed.
JBlaze
I use a Hagens wire bender and make a closed eye/twisted loop. I also use spring steel split rings instead of stainless. I have not lost a swivel or blade yet. You can see the twisted eye that the Hagens makes in the blade baits gallery. On the pivot point spinnerbait, Its on page 9 as of now. Robbor is correct in bending the loop past the main wire to get some pressure on the gap but they will still sometimes spring open if hit hard enough and you will lose blade and swivel. Hope this helps. John
smalljaw
I had the same problem when I first started so what I did was use a pair of round nose pliers and bend that loop by hand, just bend it past the arm a little bit and then bring it back, that will keep the loop closed.
