Mountain Man 26
Does anyone ever have a problem with water stains around the nose or tail of a bait that has been foiled with a tissue print. I have been applying the DC2T directly to the print. Am I supposed to be sealing it with something before. I foiled a #7 Shad Rap. It is staining around the tail hook hanger. fatfingers
Sounds like your final top coat (clear) was breached.
rofish
I preferr to topcoat such lures with 2 thinned epoxy clearcoats instead of one unthinned. This way, you have less possibilities to leave uncovered spots. Also, the thinned epoxy flaws better. Try to go inside the eyes with the small paintbrush which you use to apply the epoxy. Then, before putting the lure on the wheel, clean the eyes with toothpicks or something similar. Before applying the epoxy, you must dry the lure, and it is better to apply the epoxy while the lure is still warm.
.dsaavedra.
i have done several photo finishes with the tissue paper over foil method and i have never had any water stains on the tissue. i agree with fatfingers, there was probably a small open spot in your clear coat that let water through.
